Do other cars using the same exhaust layout exhibit the same traits?

Ferraris "almost" similar layout suffered from traction issues in the beginning.hardingfv32 wrote:Do other cars using the same exhaust layout exhibit the same traits?

this is a very unrealistic view, although it doesnt look like drastic changes, slight changes make massive differences, you may not notice these changes, but I assure you that Mclaren have had alot of updates, just you haven't noticed them as they are small refinements, you dont need massive overhauls to be quick, Mclaren dont need to change their exhaust, as it must work fine for them so far, so why change to something which may not work with your car design?GrizzleBoy wrote:Ferraris "almost" similar layout suffered from traction issues in the beginning.hardingfv32 wrote:Do other cars using the same exhaust layout exhibit the same traits?

Red Bulls Sauber like exhausts weren't exactly all that.
Only difference is that other teams have actually spent some time developing their exhausts and experimenting between different layouts in order to learn what the benefits/compromises are.
McLaren tbh, have pretty much done nothing worth mentioning at the rear end of their car (or even the front tbh) for the longest time now. (Conversely, the very few things they have done, recently or not, has been copied by many other teams).
It's still clear that they have had less big aero changes than any other team have done in the last few years, even those that were at the top. I'm not saying that they are a bad team because of it, or that they will fall behind. But it's an observation worth noting.N12ck wrote:this is a very unrealistic view, although it doesnt look like drastic changes, slight changes make massive differences, you may not notice these changes, but I assure you that Mclaren have had alot of updates, just you haven't noticed them as they are small refinements, you dont need massive overhauls to be quick, Mclaren dont need to change their exhaust, as it must work fine for them so far, so why change to something which may not work with your car design?GrizzleBoy wrote:Ferraris "almost" similar layout suffered from traction issues in the beginning.hardingfv32 wrote:Do other cars using the same exhaust layout exhibit the same traits?

I seem to remember to have read that they will bring a large update to Silverstone. I believe it was somewhere in this thread.Nando wrote:Any rumors on parts for Silverstone?
I´m very interested to see if they will bring something different rather then just new front wing and rear wing.
Ok i guess we´ll have to wait and see. Sucks that it´s 2 weeks between GP´s for most of the time.Holm86 wrote:I seem to remember to have read that they will bring a large update to Silverstone. I believe it was somewhere in this thread.Nando wrote:Any rumors on parts for Silverstone?

cant remember which race it was but they were testing parts on jenson car that was seeing what jenson vision was like with a higher nose this was after the new front higher nose was introduced this part was removable but when sam micheals was asked about what was going on he stated it was for devolpment of the 2013 car so either this years or next where gonna see a higher front end at some point couldnt find a pic but it was covered on sky sportsN12ck wrote:whos expecting a step nose, and/or RBR style sidepods?![]()

the rules were said to be changed about the nose hump for next year, because they were 'ugly' I suspect maybe this year they will bring it in, I remember Jenson saying he couldn't see a thing when testing itmozza_84 wrote:cant remember which race it was but they were testing parts on jenson car that was seeing what jenson vision was like with a higher nose this was after the new front higher nose was introduced this part was removable but when sam micheals was asked about what was going on he stated it was for devolpment of the 2013 car so either this years or next where gonna see a higher front end at some point couldnt find a pic but it was covered on sky sportsN12ck wrote:whos expecting a step nose, and/or RBR style sidepods?![]()
