Why? Other than minor parts that didn't help any making the car faster, there we no big upgrade. That is 4 races and counting (Valencia, Canada, Monaco, Bahrain). The Monaco spec doesn't count. So that months since any really upgrade has been on the car. Same car since Bahrain!

So conicidentally it means something major is coming for Germany.

Race pace seems really bad, as Jenson said the Sauber was better in the high speed, Williams in the low speed.
Even Schumacher with his Mercedes reeled in Hamilton at the end..

I think the drivers summed it up perfectly.
Whitmarsh talked about the upgrade package for Germany again so he must be pinning his hopes on that.

I don't know about you lot or is it just me, do you think that there seems to be more key technical personnel leaving mclaren than joining the team, ie. pat fry and more recently john(?) Iiley?

No. I was referring to your claims of inside knowledge and stepped nose! So    is quite appropriate, don't you think?

Nothing to do with low fuel, just it eats its tyres, and McLaren pulled him into the pits too early for his last stop. He did 22 laps on the first stint, was out of tyres, and was then pulled in with 23 still to go, knowing he'd come out in traffic and screw them up a bit.
I thought Sam Michaels said in an interview on Sky after the race that this was the reason for the dramatic drop in performance, when the car is on low fuel the performance drops.....?!?!?! :?

Yes. You see the prediction has come full circle. Now I now my sources are very credible.
It was true that the upgrade had to be put off for Germany because of Lead times. Mclaren barely got the second front wing in time for Saturday Running and Woking is only 80 miles away from Silverstone. This how much priority the Germany upgrade is.

Anyway, rumours aside and focusing on actuallity. Mclaren was the Seventh fastest car at Silverstone.

McLaren have two VERY important races coming upp this month. They need two very good result or the championship is over, I think.

Tracion is where theyre loosing the most it seems. It feels like traction, lowspeed corners and loosing time when the car is light goes hand in hand. When the car is heavy, it pushes the car down more into to road in lowspeed corners, making the traction better. But when the car is light, is seems that the car is too light to put its power down in lowspeed corners. It might be good when the tyres are fresh, but then it just eats its own tyres.
Put the fact that we havent really seen anything done to the rear. The exhaust might be very good in highspeed corners, but not so good in lowspeed, for obvious reasons.

Focus on the rear is my advice!

LHamilton, This is what you think of the car?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/formul ... esign.html
Asked if the car was fundamentally flawed, he said: 'I'm not using those words; I'll let you use those words.

'You've got to look at the cars in detail - just look at them and ours look different from the others.'

That was presumably a reference to McLaren longer nose vis-a-vis everyone else's ugly, boxer's snout of a front.

'That's a significant difference,' he went on. 'I'm not an aerodynamicist but there's got to be something there, so that's what we're looking at for this car, but also for next year's car.

'It is too big a change for this season.

'I feel for us all at the team because everyone is working their a*** off.

'Jenson and I are working are a***s off and the fans are giving us every ounce of support possible. But it's just not happening.

'Coming to your home grand prix you want a big upgrade package. You want to be fastest and you want to win every year.

'But neither Jenson nor I have the car to be able to do that at the moment. We can get there. I believe we can get there.'

McLaren have basically the same concept and it hasn't changed much. Sure it's more refined, but there's nothing dramatically different about the exhaust or the floor at that area.

Compare that to Ferrari and RB. They have been trying all sorts of weird and wonderful things and guess what - they're leading. Sure they might get parts banned, but that's what McLaren need to do, go so far that there's a protest. IMO McLaren seem to be scared to step outside the box. Even RB ran 2 completely different cars at one race. McLaren need to take a stiff drink, hitch up the pants and try some radical things. Button had the fastest top speed at Silverstone, Webber had almost the slowest. Maybe a new tac might work. Can't hurt.

Not much wrong with the low fuel performance in Qualifying for Lewis unless he's on inters, if its a real head scratcher for them, we have no hope of getting a handle on it :wtf:

It's interesting that you mention that because it's been debated that their isn't a significant difference between dry and wet set ups, and then we see fluctuations in general performance and tyre usage based on said differences. So it must be that there are significant differences, and it's not just about the driver. Although this was mentioned for a wet scenario, but the dry race also lends itself to the cause.

Just read that hamilton has stated in such words that this years cars is fundamently flawed and in need of a redisign because all other cars i.e redbull and others have boxers noses and they dont which means that there aint no new chassis for germany and very unlikely we will see it this year. One hell of a disapointing year this is gonna be.
