Is there anyone from the forum actually going to the GP?

If so, would anyone know whether to recommend a campsite near the track as I have convinced the other half we should make the pilgrimage, and she wants an outdoors holiday.....

Forecast is getting wetter at the moment

Why does that seem to suit RB? Is it because all teams have to run more drag, so the disadvantage of RB's short gearing is lessened? Thanks

Best beer and race in the world :) I need to go stock up on some belgian beer for the race, now that I think of it... Any favorites? Westmalle tripple and st benardus 12 are a few of mine.

I can agree with you on the best race :) Can't agree with you on the beer though :D

It is hard to come by, you need to make a reservation and pick it up yourself at the monestary, but Wesvletere beer is by far the best beer. If you happen to got hold on a crate of it, please don't waste it during the race. Keep it for special occasions.
For the rest I suggest not to take beer at the circuit stances. They'll most sell Cristal or maes there, which is absolute crap and on top of it expensive. Better to hop in a tavern or cafe and ask for jupiler.

It's the summer break... nothing's happening ...

I'd rather people chatted in here while waiting for the race so the other threads stay relatively clear. It's the virtual equivalent of queuing at the gates waiting for them to open.

I'm stuck in the states watching on TV. I've had all three Westvleterens before, and yes it's excellent, the yellow cap was the best. It ran me $25 per 12oz bottle, so definitely a celebration beer.

Meh, rare, yes, the best – no, it's even fairly mediocre by belgian standards, just overrated because of the rarity. Rochefort 10 is actually the one that typically comes out as being "the best".

It comes down to personal taste. I personally loved it, but to be honest I am more of a Guinness person :P.

The Red Bull, as you may know, has one of the highest downforce cars on the grid, and the necessity for a high downforce car is even further exaggerated in wet/damp conditions even more so than usual, which suits Red Bull. As you said, the low top speed issue for Red Bull's typically short gear ratios is in contrast less exaggerated because of the other teams' need to run a higher downforce set up. This will help them to execute their Plan A of get pole position, use the superior downforce/general speed to blast away out of reach of the others, and win the race. This has been less evident last season and this season so far, due to more competition from rival teams, but an example is in India last year when Vettel, despite the huge back straight, dominated the race, and Webber wouldn't have been far behind him if he hadn't had yet another KERS failure. Anyway, I hope this helps :) Also, may I ask as, a general question to everybody, what their preference is on the weekend's weather? I would like a wet practice, showery qualifying and showery race ideally, any other thoughts?
