Yes, but the MCL only loses top speed on the top end, from a standing start PIA will be fine unless he has a worse launch.

And McLaren's keep their tires for S2 and S3 lol. It'll be like the previous races. We can't beat OP, not by any chance tomorrow. Need him to have a very poor start and then prayers for 63 laps.
Piastri has weaker tire management compared to Norris so he is the one you want in front if the pace is similar.
True, especially towards the end of the stints but we are assuming that the cars will be close in race pace for Max to make a solid impact. We will see. I think the upgrades have helped but I don't think they have helped enough to stay with Piastri over an entire race distance.AR3-GP wrote: ↑17 May 2025, 18:17Piastri has weaker tire management compared to Norris so he is the one you want in front if the pace is similar.
keeping repeating this you will end up with an Oscar WDCAR3-GP wrote: ↑17 May 2025, 18:17Piastri has weaker tire management compared to Norris so he is the one you want in front if the pace is similar.
If the tire deg is bad then it won't matter. They would even be hurt by an inability to stay out for a VSC or safety car (the rookies crashed a lot this weekend so expect more in the race). Mclaren also benefitted from VSC stops in Miami because they could stay out longer. Tire management is key.
Yep, basically a dominant WDC winning streak.
I think this shows that Red Bull have made a step. In all previous weekends (including Suzuka and Jeddah), when you would put the ideal sectors together, Mclaren would have 2-3 tenths margin. They have no margin here.Emag wrote: ↑17 May 2025, 17:59
Even by ideal laps, the Top 4 would have been the same. Lando is so much slower than his teammate in the first two sectors that it almost doesn't really matter that he held the best S3, because his tires would naturally be in a better condition once he gets there.
8th fastest sector 1!
