Vodafone McLaren MP4-27 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

it looks to me that the front bottom of the sidepod is further away from the center of the car, making it wider.

Pretty sure it's an optical illusion, train your eyes to see it curving away from you, and you'll suddenly see how it really works... more like this:

I have to admit, when I first saw it, I saw it coming towards the camera again too.

Great comparisons, you can see how different the Vodafone paint is in its positioning.

Cant wait to see it put together tomorrow.

Yeah so the undercut is much bigger and more edgier, or more flat on the bottom rather.

You can see where the tunnel should route.

Any ideas on the notch on top of the radiator?

I am pretty sure that it has the form that N12ck suggested. Will be interesting to see it all together.

Have to say I'm with Beelsebob, front section has a less aggressive undercut whilst at the rear it's more pronounced. Be interesting to see the rest of the downwash bodywork and exhaust channel.
