Vodafone McLaren MP4-27 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The bit in front of the Mobil logo actually fits in to the cut out to the left of the vodafone logo lower down. The dark section that looks like it's concave is actually the upper surface of the rear sidepode that forms the "hip hump" inboard of the exhaust ramp.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

looking at these pictures i think the changes to the sidepods are going to be relatively small, perhaps not the big changes we were predicting

Ah finally some sense has been said. Mclaren (as do any top team I'd imagine) aim to bring a tenth to each race and this 'bigger' upgrade might bring two tenths... The deficit to the leaders is far greater than 2 tenths..

It is? What evidence do you have for that?

The past 2 races? The comments the drivers say after the races. It's clear mclaren don't have the rear grip of the others.

Lets hope this update improves the rear grip situation, im looking forward to seeing the exhaust and rear floor to see what they have done in that department

Okay, and what evidnce do you have that the gap is greater than 2 tenths, or for what size it is?

Valencia is a special case, as it had extreme high temperatures and a track layout that the RedBull loved; Silverstone is a special case as it was clear that McLaren had their setup designed for full wet (evidenced by Hamilton trouncing everyone in Q2), while everyone else went for mid-wet to dry setup...

Quality. I think the person in question is a genius, a pure wind up merchant
