IIRC 3 reprimands equals a 10-grid drop. Isn't that Hamilton's 3rd? :s

Maldonado has a history of this sort of thing.

I would give a 3 race ban. Let some kid have a go.

Meh. Mansell is the guest steward and he isn't exactly Hamilton's biggest fan. I'd have given Chavez' boy a three race ban too, but that's the way it is in F1.

A grid penalty for crashing into one of the race contenders out of revenge. Bit of a laugh, isn't it?

TBH a 3-race ban would be a bit harsh- I'd have just banned him for one, or at the very least excluded him from quali, and another grid penalty for Monza. Though I suppose that greater penalties have been given for smaller things... (an example for me would be Jerez 1997- yes Schumacher did it on purpose, but it wasn't malicious or pre-meditated, which I have no doubt this was)
I don't know! I'd hate to be a steward lol.

Interesting to hear Maldonado say that he was comfortable with the overtake into the last chicane, as there was no contact. For Lewis he needs to realise that he is 'the marked man' and that he cannot win in these situations. For Mansell, who I can recall grabbing Ayrton Senna by the throat after he ran both off track strangely enough at Spa, would have a unique understanding of what constitutes "causing a collision".

For those that are interested there is in car footage available in the BBC highlights reel. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula ... 691403.stm

Skip to around 3:18. There can be no doubt that Lewis was driving in a straight line and Maldonado smashed into him. Really violent collision when viewed from in car.

Does anyone have any photos of the cars in part ferme? I would love to see the state of the tyres after 4 or 5 hard flying laps

I must say I cannot believe Maldonado got off with just a 5 place grid drop. After seeing myurr's converted video (unfortunately here in Canada we cannot access BBC videos), it clearly shows how well Maldonado went out of his way to slice into Lewis. What would have happened had his left rear made contact with Lewis' front right. That Williams would've been airborne. Unbelievable. If that's not an intentional maneuver, then what is?
