There might be something going on there with the cooling. One side has the gill, the other side is completely open.

The side with the aero rake is open? That must have an influence I would think.

Not necessary. Using flowiz that's spread downstream of the outlet suggest they are evaluating outlet's impact on airflow above the sidepod. Probably they will go trough all types of outlets that's developed to be placed there regardless of engine cooling.
