The idea that petrov is useless is rubbished as well. Petrov has massive talent, and i think Kubica would have trouble keeping petrov behind if his wasn't in hospital. I still maintain that beating Bob twice last year was a sign of things to come. A podium in your second year in the fourth fastest car ins't bad at all.

The way how things look. I think the title battle will go down to Hamilton and Vettel.
To me Hamilton was the revelation, but then I was a fan before. He has now categorically shown he can adapt his driving style, copying Button's silky smoothness but losing none of his speed. I still believe that if McLaren can provide him with a car that's capable of fighting the Red Bull that Hamilton will have the measure of Vettel. He's as quick and in my mind a far better racer.

I was also mightily impressed with how he drove around the loss in downforce and other aero problems the broken bib would have been causing.

Whilst one race does not make a season, Petrov also impressed hugely today. He was on the pace all through the race, made a great start, kept his cool, didn't make any mistakes, and brought home a well deserved podium.

The aero loads and forces on the tea tray are MASSIVE to say the least.

You really didn't think that Lewis Hamilton could make a noticable difference just by touching it with his hand, or did you ?

I definitely wouldn't rule Alonso out.

Hamilton beat Button with his own weapons again!

Vettel once again drives off into the sunset. Interesting to see how the Mclaren was catching up at the end of the first stint though. Maybe if Hamilton's car had held together...

Alonso finishes this race the same way as the last race of previous season - behind Petrov.

I just love it, especially because of his "This is the best car I have ever driven" b.s.

He's fast and he has the fastest car, a deadly combination.
I recently read article from DC who was arguing that Vettel more baby Alonso rather Shummi :D

and you judge that from only one race? And it is Australia, which has often presented surprising results... This race may be not representative of the true Ferrari pace. I think they are faster than they looked here and I would not rule out Alonso. Let's wait a few races and then see. I would like to see a race when all big boys have normal starts and are not stuck behind slower cars like today....

Wait... did that just say he's like Alonso because he's not arrogant?

that's another myth, that he copied button.
Hamilton hasn't changed at all. He was always maximized the tyres, and always had more than one driving style. They don't call him adaptable for nothing.

THE BOSS will simply make the car and tyres work. It just took this years regulations to make things clearer for all to see. Nothing new here for me, Canada 2010, hungary 2009, among many other races.
For Sure!!

That is not what I am saying at all. The rules state that the cars are in parc ferme conditions and as such a driver cannot touch or interfere with their car.

@ringo - copying was probably the wrong word. Matching was more what I was aiming at, he's obviously one of the most adaptable drivers on the grid.

@andrew - drivers do it all the time, get over it.

but this means they are not allowed to do any work/changes of the car. They can touch the cars and they all do. This is not a reason for penalty. If FIA looked at the car and the declare it OK, then fine, get over it. Not that FIA can be 100% trusted, though

@The 2 above - I'm just repeating what the rules are and what was stated in the race coverage I watched.

Anyone caught Perez overtaking Vettel? Presumable after Vettel stopped and Perez did not yet. Didn't see it on the screen though.

Perez' statement:
I will never forget this race, that is certain. After we changed from the hard to the soft tyres, I thought at first I had to push. But then I realised I could manage the tyres quite well and we decided to go to the end with them. I lost some time behind Sebastian Vettel, but I was then able to overtake him. I used the rear wing and he also left room.

Perez was absolutely amazing. How did he do 34 laps on options!?

Rubens blames tyres for his collision, and says he never went for a hole. :D Id say thats a little twisting of the truth.

He made a desperate move from miles back for a gap that was only going to get smaller. Real shame for Rosberg.
