Australian GP 2011 - Albert Park, 24-27 March

For ease of use, there is one thread per grand prix where you can discuss everything during that specific GP weekend. You can find these threads here.

No new graphic yet on the Allianz site, keeping with tradition I guess. Andrew, someone beat you to a race thread start. Get your butt in gear! :)

Shows the circuit map. The V8 paddock has been moved alongside the F1 cars.
It used to be alongside the Autograph stage in previous years.
We'll know only on Thursday about the changes.

Why isnt the DRS activated along the straight lading to turn 3 with corners 1,2 being the start of timing?? Most action happens in Turn 3.

For people who are attending, I'd suggest Turns 3/4 or 14/15 to be closest to the action.

Also there is a Mark Webber demo run along the Bolte bridge this Saturday.

I thought they were having DRS zones on the pit straight, T2-T3, and T 12-13?

JA's take on DRS

Turn 3/4 is interesting, as HK, PDL both stopped trackside last year..

I wonder if the pole time would be more/less than last year's, given the new tyres, lack of any f-duct (though last year's pole car didn't have the f-duct anyways) and lack of the slotted floor (aka DDD)

Sadly, Albert Park has been to scene of some horrific crashes and also the death of a marshal in 2001

Anyone know what compounds Pirelli are bringing to Australia? I'm guessing Hard and Soft?

EDIT: Nevermind, it's Hard/Soft. So Silver/Yellow tyres.

Vettel did the fastest lap ever on this circuit during his Q3/Pole run last year. Infact I think quite alot of the Red Bull's pole times broke circuit records. Usually from the F2004.

I doubt the cars will be anywhere near Vettel's Q3 time with the RB6. A few seconds off.

My OCD is kicking in, I already got annoyed at Autosport for being gay with their lack of continuity. The title needs to be exactly like this:
