If I was Ferrari, I would put all recourses into engine development. They need to make big improvements before engine freeze.
No sense in going for upgrades this season anyway. They are over 1 and a half seconds slower than Mercedes and that’s on one of the shortest tracks.

I’ve the feeling Ferrari has the weakest engine now. How’s that even possible? Have they really only put effort into improving their engine trick in last couple of years? What a totally riskful move. Still can’t believe what I’ve just witnessed.
Agreed!!! Yeah Ferrari should just write off '20-'21 and focus on engine and '22 chassis
The way I understood it, now with the regulation changes having been postponed, teams are not allowed to work on their 2022 car this season. Someone please correct me, if I’m wrong.
And with the budget cap still going to come next year, it will mean that the top 3 teams will have even less advantage. Otherwise they were going to build that new reg car without any budget limitation this season.
It’s interesting though that Ferrari seems to have pushed for the 2021 reg changes being postponed. One would think that they would have liked to work on that new project with limitless money.

If this is true it should be fun for the race.

But makes the FIA look stupid (again).

Strange to see an penalty enforced so late but ironic that it was Bottas that caused the yellow flag that has led to the penalty

This is what annoys me about F1 this should have been all sorted out within an hour of qualifying finishing not almost 24 hours later, im not saying Lewis shouldn't get a penalty if he didn't slow down enough but just get these things done and dusted quicker.

Excatly. Yesterday stewards didn't see that Ham done something bad?
Without RBR protest they will allow him to start P2?

What is happening there? Maybe we need a public prosecutor in steward's room?

The FIA yesterday stated there was no penalty and there were a mix of flags.

Regardless of if that is right or wrong, that should be case closed.

FIA obviously easily pushed over, who ever goes to them protesting or defence, they more often win.

Jenson Button called it exactly on sky sports f1. The seeing/not seeing the flag is irrelevant. There is a yellow, cars need to slow, those are the rules. I can’t fathom why the stewards are often not helping the sport in terms of consistency

Did Pirelli publish tire strategy predictions? Did not see them.
They did on their website, they think 1 stop is the fastest strategy with 24-28 laps on the Softs then switch to Hards or 27-32 on Mediums and switch to Hards
I don't think the softs will last 24 laps, last year 24 laps was the most any of the front runners did on softs. The undercut was actually very powerful, so pitting on lap 22 for softs, then hards to the end. Starting on the mediums Verstappen was able to go to lap 30 last year, then slapped on hards and went the rest of the way. He's in position to do the same.
Based on this fact I think Max was solely concentrated on race pace and particularly on the medium tyres :

So I think Max would stretch the first stint to do some 38-42 laps and then he will stop once just for the soft tyres, bearing in mind the track temp goes down at the end of the race ...

The only question is how good he will start now that he`s on the medium tyre and more of that being on the dirty side of the track ...

Rubbish. If the flag is obscured, then there is no instruction to slow down.

A well-timed safety car would also help the strategy too

He's starting 2nd, can't be any better than that.
