British media in pro-british sportsman shock...
Serious, why is it a surprise to anyone that the BRITISH media support a BRITISH driver, or tennis player for that matter. Only in Britain is patriotism a dirty word, even to brexiters.
It's mostly to do with their fans. Give a competent driver a great car and a not-so-great teammate - the case for virtually all Champions since the duels between Senna and Prost - and when he wins, his fans treat him like he's the best thing since sliced milk.TAG wrote:I try to limit my opinion on drivers to what they do on the track, keeps it much simpler that way, but pretty much hating all drivers I would think has takes a good bit of joy from the sport.bhall II wrote:I'm with ya. It's best to completely ignore the trolls.Jolle wrote:Almost missed you here!
I'll give it a go.
Vettel was penalized for forcing a car off track, not for causing a collision. Also he was locking up instead of trying a clever move. Besides that he was on the offensive instead the defensive.
It is possible to have different "heroes" for different situations. I'd love to meet and chat with Moss and (time machine allowed as required) Fangio. I'd like to chat to Senna, Schumacher, Vettel and Hamilton too. All would have something to say that was worth listening to. Likewise Murray, Newey, Chapman and Ferrari, Todt, Warr and others. I'd love to be driven by each of those drivers too, to revel in their individual skill. I'd love to watch the engineers work through a problem, listen to the team managers haggle with drivers. It's all good stuff and all for different reasons.bhall II wrote:
Given an opportunity to have a conversation with a figure from the sport, I'd wanna meet James Allison or Adrian Newey or Aldo Costa or, if I was really lucky, John Barnard or Mauro Forghieri. I don't really have heroes. But, if I did...
You mostly hate all drivers because of their fans...bhall II wrote:It's mostly to do with their fans.

Thats it. Lack of direction, something the Schumi era Ferrari had. This explain how Ferrari was able to improve the car each season until they achieved to have the best car in the 2000s. I dont think that direction and clear purpose in Ferrari since 2007/2008.Jolle wrote:Pure lack of direction. Teams that have been dominant always had a very strong management that stood out. Managers who form a team with their engineers and place the right trust in them. Managers who don't compromise. Not a political marketing manager. Everybody probably can name all the combinations from the past twenty/thirty years. With Allison they have the engineer.Samraj_official wrote:At the moment it looks seemingly more like Prost and Bernard,so who knows???, it might as well change next year, while also knowing the fact what RedBull are capable off during rule changes and also Ferrari always seem to react too slowly during massive regulation changes, with budget in excess of 400 million $$ ,i still struggle to understand why are they are under utilising the resources they have!!! is it lack of talented engineers or something else???
And that is exactly the thought proces of Ferrari at the moment. Multiple directions at ones and before you know it you have some web of possibilities and no where to go. Compare it to apple vs Samsung for instance. One phone, got it right from the start, or a whole array of phones. Whatever your favorite phone is, Apple makes the most money in the end.Samraj_official wrote:But Ferrari has enough money to run several concepts in parallel to each other and go on to find the best possible design, even Mercedes spent less money than Ferrari last year, and with the situation they are finding themselves in, this is quite embarrassing!!!
sorry but Samsung aren't failing like Ferrari either!!! Biggest profits are recorded Q1,Q2........Jolle wrote:And that is exactly the thought proces of Ferrari at the moment. That's not he point, Ferrari is still fast. But they miss the Steve Jobs, Ron Dennis, Jean Todt, etc leader. McLaren almost instantly lost traction when Withmarch took over, Ferrari lost its edge after Todt and Apple lost its magic under Cook. Its vision and direction, focus. Working on multiple solutions at once you'll mis it. How many times did we have in the recent past that Ferraris updates weren't working? Or phrases "looks like we're going backwards ". The moment you start to have to fix all the little problems, your base isn't good enough.Samraj_official wrote:sorry but Samsung aren't failing like Ferrari either!!!
