I could watch cars go past the swimming pool all day long. Those whip-like changes of direction are simply stunning.
I didnt see much tyre saving going on through there!
More could have been done.

so he could chose the right tires for the first stint. and the right strategy. The other driver according to regulation have to start with the tyres chosen in the q3 lap

monaco is sh*t for racing but its all worth it...for the qualifying session.
in the past it was worth it anyway coz at least you knew the drivers were driving to their limits for 78 laps, even if it was line astern.

we don't even have that anymore....so its worth it just for qualifying, because driver has more influence here than on any other track.

All front runners had a single stop race, nothing special about it.

By their very nature, F1 cars are never going to appear to be saving tires. Even in tire-saving, fuel-saving, extra-cautious mode, they'll embarrass any other race car.

I'll ask again. When was the last year in which the cars pushed 100% for every single lap of the Monaco GP?

Fastest sector times. The Ferrari was in the top 5 in all 3 sectors.

stats don;t lie. Three team induced failures of 6 races and some bad strategy calls...

They say Nuvolari and Varzi had a legendary duel for a hundred laps in '33.

I guess that's fair enough. I just think they're not a very good team right now.

Still, I like this race for some reason.
You're not the only one.

Monaco is the last of the real race tracks where risk/reward still exists instead of massive parking lot runoffs that do little to punish a botched corner.

Whats wrong with a bit of bad luck? It happens to all drivers at some point. If blaming the team helps then tell yourself that.
Countless drivers get bad luck spells. Raikkonen had it, Hamilton had it, Button had it even Webber and Vettel.
This team is close to getting Schumacher onto the podium and gave him a car to produce that lap yesterday. Whats to say that the coming together Schumi had at the start wasn't responsible for his technical issue?

Hi guys,

can anybody explain to me what happened with Alonso between lap 16 and 17
there was no pit stop but he drove 1.1 seconds faster in lap 17 than in the laps before.

Are the Pirellis really predictable?

Not especially. But, I don't think they're that unpredictable.

I don't remember that part of the race in detail, but the times imply he probably found himself with a clear track ahead of him.

Methinks he hung back from Lewis a bit , then went bang on to see how fast he could go in the pitstop phase. Worked a beaut as he overtook Hamilton during pitstops
