If the never ending stupidity of the comedy routine between you two is at a pause maybe you can answer this...

If points is the best way evaluate driver ability/results then why do they keep changing the damned points system?

Points are for idiots who are too lazy to watch the race and make a proper jugement of what has occurred in front of their eyes.

Increased number of teams and improved reliability mainly, and to make things a bit more competitive.

And why did they change it in 2003? and in 1991? 1985? 1981? Because it is flawed and has very little relation to the reality on the ground. It seems that Rosberg is twice as good a driver as your beloved MS, wouldn't you agree? Thats what the 2010 points standings tell us. Points are stupid in F1, it started backin the 50's where they just put together an arbitrary points system with no thought as to how a win relates to a second or even a fifth place finish. And they have mainly stuck with the system because of tradition. It is as absurd as sticking to the idea of a flat earth because of tradition.

In 2010 Rosberg has performed more consitently than Schumacher due to his well publicised issues in the first 4 races.
The points verify this.

Button also appear to be doing better than your god.

Surmising?

If you want to know who the best driver is just ask ISLAMATRON. As he knows better than anyone INCLUDING points!

And for the record points standing were changed due to the increased number of drivers and participants. The reason being sponsors pay for points finishes and the FIA helped out lesser teams by securing points up to 10th.

This is the reason, not because it doesnt show who the best driver is! How ludicrous!

Can you come up with another metric to evaluate driver's performance? One that is objective and does not rely on any 'Ecclestonianistic' idea, such as medals or overtaking lane?

Going back to Alonso, it seems he did one or two mistakes this season. Hamilton did them before, so did Button, Vettel, Webbo, and even Schummi. If you almighty pundits can come up with anyone that is as fast as top F1 drivers and makes no mistakes whatsoever, please do write their names down.

Otherwise just keep enjoying your Sunday afternoon experiences as someone that enjoys motor racing for what it is - competition to the limit, where mistakes are part of the game.

We aren't talking about previous seasons. We are talking about this season and you cannot deny the fact that Alonso is making too many mistakes to be considered a top driver.

So, you would not call Lewis top driver in 2008?

You can win a WDC without being a top driver. You can be a top driver and not win the WDC.
