Williams FW31

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I think a far bigger concern is the absence of additional sponsorship since that low-key presentation in January. Shavers and a bankrupt bank, is that all besides the small at&t signs on the front wings?

Yes they should have a good season this year or they will be out of F1 .
That will be very bad for F1

The Senna S that you are talking about in a williams car usually is put in the front wing pillars connected to the nose cone...
it's usually in the inside of the pillars :)

I have never heard of this "S" before and it is quite interesting.
Is this put on every Williams since the year Senna died?
Any photos?

Intrsting choice of colours. The blue is darker than 07 but lighter than 08, and theres more white than last years car, but less than 07. Sort of a diffrent design i think. In not too shure, as i though last years Williams was classy and you could see it on the track very easily.

The "S" is on the neutral profile section of the front-wing (between the pillars).

They have returned to the nose they used last year during testing.

Have they lost the additional cooling "ears"?

I have a feeling that is their interim car with the livery on it:

The FW31 at Jerez last week:

Image

*Different nose (the one they used last year as a prototype)
*Simpler front wing
*Sidepod shape is much different
*Different air intake
*Tiny brake ducts
*No sidepod shields/turning vanes

I think thats last years car with this years front and rear wings. The sidepods look like last years, they dont have the 'shoulders' of the new car and as you say, the airbox is mixing the aditional intakes. Though I stand to be corrected

Not too gone on the livery, though its very similar to the last few years. Quite devoid of sponsors :o

for a moment forget the livery and look at the front brakes' cooling ducts. they look quite interesting.

They appear to be far more like the FW30's

Re: Williams FW31 - final livery

Hi,
Greetings from Australia...
I am new to this site...so be gentle!!!
I have been a Willims F1 fan since the days of Alan Jones.
It is often said that Willims have had downforce issues in recent years.
Could the huge differences that we can see in this excellent post, of the different height of the nose cone, point to Williams trying to improve the correlation of the race track performance, to the results in the wind tunnell???
Renault lost their way big time a few years back here...
Otherwise why use so many different designs???
There must be a reason for this on-going performance issue...
Thanks, and take care everybody..

Looks like a Bridgestone logo down there...
