Here are some graphs based on yesterday. Note that the data is lifted from the Greek site and it doesn't list all laps. I've checked this against the published list on the McLaren site.

Source - http://www.msfree.gr/ms.php?id=10929

Code: Select all

Driver Web Hlk Ros DLR But Lzz Alo Pet Alg dGr Fau
Laps(data) 82 62 91 55 84 42 64 46 92 24 60
Laps(check) 109 82 107 73 101 65 74 74 111 31 76

Anyway, its the best data we have so here's some analysis

But it still doesn't mean much. He could have had 10 laps of fuel, whilst others had 50 laps of fuel they just didn't run until the tanks were dry.

Yeah true. It is however the only bit of good news we have seen for the Mercedes team - even if its isn't too accurate it makes a change from them coming up as mid pack.

Yes, Rosberg does seem very regular. Also, it is not just a one hit wonder. Look at the data table below the graph and you see the data set has as many laps as the others.

Note I refer to the "data set" as opposed to saying that's what he did on the day because I do not have all the data as explained earlier.

Based on that, Merc have some pretty decent pace on long runs.

Actually, I think it shows Rosberg tested on a consistent fuel load. Rosberg only varied by 3 sec between max and min.

What delta are we expecting from start to end of race, 6 seconds? The other guys with a bigger range are probably testing a broader range of fuel loads.

All Rosberg has shown is that he can post good times in a long stint. We'll need to see a good spread of times before we know if he was fuelled light or heavy

I think it's very difficult to infer that from these statistics. 15 laps in a race could be completed with a number of different fuel loads. If you spend the whole day testing one fuel load, whereas your competitors chose to test a higher fuel load then you are bound to have a better average speed.

Many teams are concentrating on a race simulation this afternoon.

Looks like that Lotus are looking at fuel runs, and Virgin are looking at just getting some kilometers on the clock.

14:11 Confirmed that it is Trulli's stranded Lotus that caused the red flag

14:11 @mikegascoyne: Hydraulic leak has stopped the car

14:10 We have the first red flag of the afternoon, sounds like it might be the Lotus - so much for that long run
Session resumed. Alonso DlR, Liuzzi, Alguersuari and Hulk on track now.

Mike Gascgoyne has said that the Lotus stoppage was down to a blown seal on the power steering rack, a new rack is going on just in case.
