A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

They speak about "a showy vertical flap that had gone unnoticed in the British GP because it remains hidden under the third central wing", but it is not so clear what they are referring to.
I think he means the S-shaped winglet under the sidepod inlet in the undercut. Though it was part of the Styrian upgrade package.
Merc got something similiar as well.
The one in the (badly hand made painted) yellow circle?

I don't think it's that. They are talking about a some vertical fin at the back of the car which is now part of the floor. But I can't figure out what the "3rd centre wing" is. An addition of a vertical fin in the diffuser maybe?
I’m pretty sure it’s the part that’s circled in yellow - what they mean by the 3rd centre wing is the bodywork that’s ahead of the sidepods, I.e. the idea Ferrari pioneered in 2017 where they were able to push the sidepod entrance back and create a kind of a ‘wing’.
The flow separator highlighted sits right underneath that.

Could be, although the article mentions that it's a vertical fin. But nothing seems to have changed elsewhere, so it must be that
This is from TV, it's the video of the engine failure on Seb car.
From minute 0:35 for a while, when Seb is still in the car and from minute 1:36 and 4:47 in a replay, for a few seconds I think we can see the new black vertical fin very close to the car body, under the horizontal wing just below the sidepod inlet.
I think it's the same already found (in the yellow circle) but from a different perspective.
Michele
P.S.: It's my first post and I could not post images only instead of a whole video, be patient.

Have the black pieces of bodywork at the back of the engine cover (that kind of dissect the two 'circles' and look like little fins) always been there?

Yes, they have been there since Austria. New for this year though.
Pretty sure it's the normal high downforce one (launch spec) used only in Hungary so far.
I expect the next upgrade package to arrive at the upcoming triple header, maybe in Monza.
