We can finally compare Lewis and Sebastian in the same car

Post

I think i speak for alot of people when i say i would like to see who is the quicker of the two if they were given the same car.

Well, Top Gear has just done this.

1.44.0 - Sebastian Vettel - Dry conditions.
1.44.7 - Lewis Hamilton - W+O = Water and Oil.

According to Jeremy he said the difference is around 2-4 seconds between a wet and dry lap.

Same car, Same track, Same amount of time to know the car. One had to do it in rain with a track filled with oil in some places.

Should mention i´m an Alonso fan and not a Hammy fanboy incase anyone wonders.
Just thought i´d post this up since it´s more or less fact.
The truth will come out...

Well, I had no doubt that Vettel would top the F1 drivers' chart. It should be nice to see Hamilton as Top Gear guest again driving in dry conditions(sth Jeremy asked him as well). He drove pretty well the first time and it was after his first season as an F1 driver if I'm not mistaken(what a season it was).

Wait a minute. You are trying to tell me Vettel is faster in slippery conditions the bone-dry?

That was probably the worst fanboy comment i´ve ever read.
that´s like saying it would be quicker to drive a F1 car in wet conditions.

When reality says it´s seconds between a dry and wet track in ANY racing car or car.

Part of the magic of Hamilton's lap was that he lost so little time despite it being wet. I can see him going a second quicker, but two to four is probably out of the question. And I say that as a fanboi of his.

So I think Hamilton would probably be able to go a couple of tenths quicker than Vettel, but it wouldn't be a difference of seconds.

I think atleast a second. The track is big and laptimes are close to 2minutes.
Wet and oily - Only a second? Doubt it.

Well, even if Hamilton is quicker by a tenth in dry, he is the quicker one. Why would it be a stupid comparison? Because Vettel may lose it, isn't it? If Vettel loses anywhere, that would be a stupid comparison. Say hello to the real world man, nobody's perfect. In the future there may be a better driver than Vettel. Adding to this I have to say that I'm not a fan of either of these two drivers. Oh please stop being so fanboyish.

Hmm... when I saw the headline for the thread, I imidiatelly thought you were refering to Silverstone and the fact that in similiar(old/cold tires) conditions, Hamilton overtook Alonso, but Vettel couldn't(didn't dare?) overtake Hamilton.:D

  good lord...my point is that this thread is stupid because the conditions were not the same...period! Now everybody sits an speculates  ...

No one knows who would be faster than the other until conditions are exactly the same... =D> until then speculate away....

Heikki Kovalainen beat Sebastian Vettel, David Coulthard, Michael Schumacher, and Felipe Massa in ROC.

So Heikki Kovalainen is the best F1 driver out there because of that.

I sense a logical disconnect.

There is very little carry over from a KIA Cee'd to an F1 car, or an ROC X-Bow to an F1 car.

Going by all this logic we can see that Tom Cruise is pretty much on par with both the young bucks of F1...

...but Tom Cruise IS the best NASCAR driver, best bartender, best secret agent, best 'precrime' cop, best samurai, best pool player, best top gun pilot, best military lawyer, best sports agent, best non-military lawyer, etc.

By the way the car is a Suzuki Liana not a KIA ;) and i bet u and me and some other lads in here wouldnt even get close to 1:44 that Vettel and Hamilton did.So yeah it is still a good measure to compare 2 drivers ability to control something that rolls on 4 wheels.Even if that is completely not related to F1.

I have not seen the most current episode, but I thought right now it was:
Wiki wrote:
Kia Cee'd (2010–)
In the last episode of the fourteenth series of the show, Clarkson revealed that they were thinking about getting a new Reasonably Priced Car for the next series. On 27 June during the first episode of the fifteenth series, it was revealed to be the Kia Cee'd and, as with the Chevrolet Lacetti, another open day was held to welcome the new car. Peter Jones, Al Murray, Bill Bailey, Peta Todd, and Louie Spence were amongst the initial drivers. Clarkson commonly refers to the Kia phonetically as the "See Apostrophe Dee".
The top place has changed rapidly so far in the season. In the first episode, Peter Jones topped it, declaring that no one would top that for a long time. Two weeks later, Rupert Grint took the top place. Again, two weeks after that, Cameron Diaz was given the top position, only for it to be announced seconds later that Tom Cruise was even faster than her. John Bishop now holds the fastest lap time of all of the reasonably priced cars.

It is... for stars in the reasonably priced car. However all F1 drivers are still in the old Suzuki so as to be able to compare their times.
