Are you sure of this? I remember reading sometime back that Rosberg's contract prevented his team mate from earning more

I don´t think that contract applies at Mercedes.
Especially when you have a 7 time world champion which has accomplished far more then Rosberg probably ever will do in the sport as your teammate.

Those numbers are what they make in total, salary, sponsors included.

I think the answer to the question is pretty obvious.

Ferrari offered Schumacher an enormous salary end 1994 that he couldnt refuse, this salary was around 40 million euro's I believe. That was his salary for 1996 until 2006. Together with sponsorship etc. I think he easily made around 55 million around 2003, if we even take the 40 million over 10 year that means he made 400 million in his ferrari years alone, that would be without sponsorship money. so alonso has to drive a really long time for Ferrari to top that.

Shumacher was making up to 90 million a year at one point. Can't remember if its US or sterling, but he was ahead of tiger woods back then, so you know it's in the close to 100 mil region.
