Hamilton's driving

Post

Has anyone else noticed Hamilton's driving at least in the last 2 races? he is much faster than button...and he is driving that mclaren to its limits...he is constantly on the edge....and i have to say it reminds me of senna's driving when he would dance with the car...im not saying that hamilton is as good as senna...im only trying to make u notice his driving!

Pointless thread.

McLaren have finally got their car up to pace...

Lewis is pushing it..

But not that amazing

just doing what lewis always does...

He overdrove his car in his second Q3 lap enabling Vettel to take pole...

And what if he is?

Senna's just another human being. No harm in someone being better. After all they can't be compared, so no reason to go all defensive if you see similarities.

His driving is no surprise really. He was really good in canada as well before the crash.

i think that hamilton is trying too hard to become like senna...and in fact he is very fast indeed...but nothing else is similar to senna....apart from the helmet colour...;p

I really am impressed with Hamilton's driving lately.
I still strongly believe that Hamilton and Alonso are the best drivers on the grid and that both are capable of extracting more out of the car than is possible with other drivers. They're both really something special in my opinion and who knows maybe in years to come and with a few more WDC's behind him, Hamilton may be remembered as one of the greats, possibly even the greatest, why not, the guy is a great talent.
He certainly is a very exciting driver who knows how to overtake - his overtaking move directly after being overtaken by Webber at the Nurburgring was spectacular!
I still think that the McLaren is slightly behind the Red Bull in terms of pace but that it is Hamilton making the difference and making it possible to fight with Vettel, whom I don't believe has the same level of talent but does have a faster car.
This is just my personal opinion however and this type of thing can never really be proven or disproven, simply speculated on.

I'm also extremely impressed as he lately hasn't crashed someone else, and I guess it must definitely be a personal record for him. Let us just hope that this can continue.

Oh come on GTSpeedster - what was it - 2 races with incidents I think? in how long?
The way people are carrying on lately is making it sound like he's crashed into someone every race on every race weekend. I'm not a Lewis fanboy but some other drivers have had more incidents yet I feel Lewis has been unfairly singled out.

I must say I agree, I know people will say 'fanboy thread' etc, however he has a serious point, his driving lately is at its best its been all season, back to how he was in 2008/ 2007.

I think people think like that, but he probably wants to make his own legend. Senna is a guide, but i don't think any driver wants to imitate another. It's just the media and the fans that think this way.
Neither does Vettel want to be Shumacher.

They are very different and yet similar. Hamilton is a better overtaker, while senna is strong at qualifying. Both are good in both respects, but i'm speaking relative to each other.
Senna was one of the best, but sometimes i think people get carried away in deifying him.
And please no backlash from the overtaking statement. Hamilton is definitely the best overtaker in F1 ever, if we look on their careers objectively. Not just on the number of overtakes, but the dificulty and the craftiness.

By the same measure Senna's the best qualifier. But let's not get into the comparison to side track the thread.

I'd have to agree with you here.

We can't even use the word crash. As the only real crash was with Button, and that wasn't his fault. The other incidents were contacts, and with very strong defenders who haven't been easy to pass by any other driver.

The reason why his typical driving is sudenly surprising is becuase people actually make themselves beleive he isn't consistent and crashes a lot.
When they get a reality check, they think it's a whole new hamilton, when really it's the same old driver who've they been bashing so blindly they didn't realize the guy could actually drive. :lol:

Alono made critcal mistakes in Germany. He actually lost the race by falling off the track in the first lap.
Alonso also lost canada by crashing into Button.
I wont use these things to bash Alonso, because the truth is, he is one of the 2 top drivers in F1, and both take a split second decision that may not turn out well.
For Sure!!

He's showing what he's capable of with a vaguely competitive car, you mean? Also please try to understand paragraphs and sentences, then it won't be like reading the CBBC forums. Not that I do that.

The driving style;
The overtaking style;
The opinion of the stewards of him;
The rivalry against the calculating opponent;
The helmet;

There's a *lot* in common there.
