Work in F1 in 2020

Post

Hi everyone!
I am 17 years old...I love a F1 and espicialy aerodynamics...and for that reason i want to work as aerodynamist in F1. But i wonder if it is worth to take the road to be an aerodynamist (i mean in the university). My main problem is when i end my studies how will the situation in F1 be? Will there be room for innovations and development in the field of aerodynamics? Cause year after year we see FIA to minimize the impact of an aerodynamist to the car.
(sorry for my english, i come from greece)

Thnx in advance..

Don't worry, Mr E. will see that the show will be worse (more gap between teams) with less aero facilities and so he will return to aero things.
We'll see 2008 FW, blown diffusers and maybe DDD back in next years, if you are good enough then you'll have work 8)

eh? The gap's usually smaller with aero as then teams can't have a competitive advantage in aero. Remember when seconds rather than tenths used to separate cars in qualifying?

2008 with big aero facilities was one of the best years, many different drivers won races.
2010 with DDD (easy df) was a great year, it wasn't so rare that little teams qualified their drivers above the big ones (Button stopped in Q2 sometimes, so did Massa).
2011 = less aero facilities, bigger difference between teams, Button or Massa out in normal Q2 conditions simply can't happen, if you can't use exhaust gases then you have nothing else this year. EBD itself is a great thing, but if you aid cars to get df in other ways then you have better show.
Next year ... will be even worse. Teams will have no "easy" df left so only the ones with big computer power and wind tunnel can have hopes to get the performance.
Remember that is better when big teams value is 150 and medium teams is 100 (150 - 100 = 50) than when big teams value is 50 and medium teams is 25 (50 - 25 = 25)

I think you need to take the Vettel dominance out of the equation of 2011 to really see a better picture. Also 2010 was arguably better than 2009 because teams had started to converge on similar design concepts rather than in 2009 when a lot of teams were caught out by the new regs

So I'm the only one who had the feeling that this year medium / little teams can't in any way compete with big teams for podium and positions?
Top5 is pratically frozen this year, while last year wasn't

Yes that is a major mystery - especially as stabilizing rules should help the field bunch up

Why the lower teams dont copy the design philosophy of the bigger teams ,that they are proven to be the successful one...and then develop their own ideas??...i mean that a 3 second gap is far too big..as far as the rules...i also believe that for a couple of years FIA should stop keep changing them...so teams will be able to explore every single detail to make the car faster..
