ignition

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

went back looking for the answer but could'nt find it anywhere.

what do F1's use for ignition at 19000 RPM.??????

my father and i were talking and i said you'd be better of with some sort of glo plug like in diesels .
its just mind boggeling to think that they could get , what ever they use to fire nearly 200 times a second. now thats just silly!!!!!

Yes, as Guest points out they use sparkplugs. As everything else in F1 ,very small in size and light weight. As far as I can remember they also don't have the L or U shaped electrodes at the insulator. Instead it is a pretty flat design there and they talk about surface ignition as the gap between insulator and piston is very tight.
But people at Denso or Champion will supply you with additional info needed wrk.
