How are F1 mechanics trained?

Post

I realize this question could be an easy one with a very obvious answer. However, I'm often surprised by those little nuggets of relatively obscure F1 information that come out from time to time, and this could be one of those instances.

How are F1 mechanics trained to work on the new cars from year to year?

Do you mean:
a) how they are trained, from simple mechanics, to be able to progress to the F1 level?
or
b) how they are trained to the new procedures, and the obvious different measurements/wheelnuts/new stuff on each year's new cars?
or
c) how they are trained in terms of fitness?

B

Do they get manuals? Technical briefings at certain intervals?

hi to all of you.
a) think they must have some technical knowledge, and that they work on it - studying if you will.
b)they probably learn (train by repating simple to complex movements)new procedurs regarding new car. it is, by my belive, similar to training in some other sport - simply repating to perfection.
c) they probably have some basic fitness preparations, then some specific training (i.e. coordination training, specific strength, motoric skills), then simulations.

according to williams F1 video with Michalel Johnson, that's exactly what he's doing right now with pit crew there.

My tuppenceworth......

I was very fortunate to make friends with David Coulthard's
hydraulics engineer Philip 'throttle' Brown, in the 2008 F1 season.

His background was in WRC and had previously worked with numerous
teams and drivers, including the late, great, Colin McRae.

Like any business recruiting personnel, he was taken on by RedBull
for his unique ability and motorsport experience. His role in the pitlane
on DC's race car was as the rear jackman. For sure he must have
been trained for the role as an addition to what he already
brought to the team.

F1 employees are, it seems to me, people with relevant skills
moving their careers forward.

For amount of experience that he has, this Philip was only a rear jackman!
Surely underwork but overpaid.

I'm sure he did mechanical stuff on the car too...
I presume all the guys that work on different positions during a pit stop
are the same guys that fix the cars and prepare them for races... right?
