I'm curious if anyone knows of an online database that lists the F1 chassis, engine, and driver combinations from year to year? I thought it would be something easy to find but so far I've had very little luck.
Wikipedia has this for every single F1 season. Just google "1971 formula 1 season" and replace the year.
Its not perfect, as it will show you the drivers, and the cars and engines. Its hard to tell for example in 1971 March had Peterson, Adamich, Soler-Roig, Gailli, Lauda, and Beuttler. The chassis was 711, but the engines listed are the DFV V8 and an Alfa Romeo T33 V8. it also shows who competed in what races, but I can not tell if Ronnie Peterson had the Alfa or the Cossworth.
The wikis should have enough info to narrow it down after though.
Before I do anything I ask myself “Would an idiot do that?” And if the answer is yes, I do not do that thing. - Dwight Schrute
I'd found Wikipedia but had never considered looking for a specific season the way you described, and while not perfect I'm sure it will satiate my curiosity.
