Mclaren MP4-16 (the noise)

Post

Hi,

Remember the 2000 Mclaren (think it was 2000) ?

The one that made the AWESOME noise. Was something to do with the exhausts pointing rite down at the floor I think?!?!?

Firstly does anybody know if that is actually the reason it made the distinctive noise?

Secondly, dont suppose anybody has a video or sound file of it???

Regards

Up untill that car the exhausts exited seperatly on eather side of the defuser. That car had the exhausts feeding into one central exit in the defuser which made it sound like a banshee. Not sure what the advantage was.

I think that was the point, so the drivers could floor it and the rear end would stick like mad.

IIRC even the MP4-18A was originally designed with diffuser exhausts.

Let me get this straight? You wan't maximum downforce on straights, and then you wan't the downforce level to fade uncontrollably during corners. I'm confused. :P
