Drivers in Newey designed cars

Post

Of all the drivers to get their chance at the wheel of a Newey designed car. Who were the best 3 drivers in HIS cars.

I cant count Senna, As his performances in the Williams were not great. I am Senna's "biggest" fan and will argue all day that he was the best. But he had a bad run the the Williams. SO which 3 drivers have proved to be simply the best in Adrians creation.

Im going for

1- Hakkinen
2- Mansell
3- Vettel
GoLandoGo
Lewis v2.0
King George has arrived.

If you mean the best "successful" drivers - I'd put Hakkinen and Vettel equal with Mansell 3rd actually.

Kimi's a bit tough to read in that fast-but-fragile McLaren

You know that the Williams was designed for active ride, and it was outlawed right. So the car was compromised from day 1, and wasn't sorted out until the halfway point of the season.

That didn't stop Senna from putting it on pole in Imola, when nobody thought it possible. He did it in the first session, and never needed a second. Hill needed a second session, and only got within .6 of a second in 4th.

His last qualifying was him elevating a car beyond its considered station.

Giblet - The car was compromised; but I think Nathan is talking about drivers driving successful Newey cars

If that is the case, it rules out Raikkonen. I think he means who were most successful in his cars, in which case I would say probably Vettel and Hakkinen.

If that is what he means, that is not what he said :)

In good Newey cars, I agree with the list.

I think JPM deserves an honorable mention.

If you're talking about the best drivers to have driven a car with Newey - then of course Senna makes the list too. So add in Senna and Raikkonen to the Mansell/Hakkinen/Vettel list

Ivan Capelli! I'm joking, of course, but he did do damn well in that March, and was unfortunate a few times.

Was the Williams Prost drove whilst Newey was semi-absent? Not that he was as successful as Mansell the previous year anyway.
