How many of the current F1 circuits have gravel traps??

Post

As part of a project I am doing I would like to know how many of the current F1 circuits have gravel traps?

I know that these are slowly being phased out for the more boring wider tarmac run-off areas and just wanted to know how many of the circuits still feature the gravel trap run-off areas.

I believe all the old ones do bar Monaco. I think Malaysia has some but they are further away from the track. China has a famous one right by the pit entrance ;)

So do they all apart from Monaco then?

I assume Singapore and Valencia also do not have gravel?

Is it further in just right before you turn left into pitlane?

I believe the "outside" area is now tarmac except for the astroturf.

Does Abu Dhabi have any? I don't recall seeing any, maybe there are some at the ends of the long straights.

China still has that gravel trap that Lewis somehow managed to beach himself in.

Suzuka has gravel between Degner 1 & 2.
SPA i believe has gravel on the outside of Rivage.

Nurburgring i know has gravel on the outer edges of the chicane before last corner.
Hedifeld´s famous handwaving in slowmotion was pretty cool.

I´m sure there´s more tracks that have certain areas of it.

Abu Dhabi is another to not have any gravel.

No gravel, it shares similar design traits as Paul Richard.
So tarmac runoff´s or barriers.

I think one runoff zone actually moves in under the building.

Yeah that's right, it's at the end of the first long straight and goes under the grandstand.

I believe that MotoGP require gravel traps so tracks which host both Formula one and MotoGP events (Sepang, Catalunya, Jerez, Valencia (not the street circuit), Silverstone and Mugello) will all have gravel traps.

It seems as though it's looking like Monaco, Abu Dhabi, Singapore and the Valencia street circuit are the only tracks without gravel then.

Thanks people!

Albert Park, Melbourne
Sepang International Circuit, Kuala Lumpur
Shanghai International Circuit, Shanghai
Bahrain International Circuit, Sakhir
Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona
Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Montreal
Silverstone Circuit, Silverstone
Hockenheimring, Hockenheim
Hungaroring, Budapest
Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Spa
Autosromo Nazionale Monza, Monza
Suzuka Circuit, Suzuka
Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida
Circuit of the Americas, Austin (From Track Masterplan)
Autódromo José Carlos Pace, São Paulo (Turn 4)

So that's 15/20 circuits.

I'm told there's some gravel on the Abu Dhabi pit exit, but cannot see it myself.

They removed all the gravel from Korea in 2011.
