ECU

Post

It appears that the McLaren supplied ECU has been causing serious issues with some teams. Total loss of information, false messages etc. Ferrari, Williams and RBR have all had issues which have affected information gathering etc. No mention so far, of McLaren themselves having issues!

It would be a pity if the ECU ultimately affected race results. Lets hope the problem is sorted PDQ.

Lotus is having data logging issues. That may be related to the ECU as well.

As much as you're trying to imply McLaren are fiddling something here, I can't see it happening. They've supplied ECUs for years with no problems, and it's Microsoft writing the software, not McLaren. My bet is on either a bug that McLaren haven't happened to have triggered, or the other teams not quite talking the protocol the ECU talks correctly.

Not insinuating anything. I could have added other names but as Mclaren was the other top team, i mentioned them. Also, they COULD have an advantage in knowing the workings of the unit, whereas those with less inside knowledge, were hitting problems. There is mention of a hacker, but how could anyone hack into a system? :wtf: :wtf:

It's a software issue, and all teams have reverted to 2012 software.

Obviously it is a software problem, but this is a new programme, and will have to be used in the races. Using old ecus/software, will deprive the teams of valuable info and experience. Only some teams have actually reverted to the old units, as not all the cars have been affected

Its a software - Hardware compatibility issue.
This year the teams are now using TAG320 ECU as mandated by the FIA.
For previous years it had been the TAG310B. Probably got various bugs to resolve depending on how individual teams are set up to use it.
