1:30 Force India VJM03

Post

Hi, was watching that some were posting their own made scale-model projects, especially after paul kicked off the trend. so here's my little offering. made this about 2 years ago...although the scale is a bit weird (didn't know about standard scales at that time). kept it as much detailed as the scale allowed me to. and it's all scratch made (paper and card-board).

Yeah way to fiddly for my arthritic fingers

The main thing for me is that you have not chosen to make a top 3 car, its refreshing to see a model of a car further down the grid.

Very nice, it has much more detail than my F138. It would be nice if you posted some pictures from the construction(if you have any). I am also interested in how the suspension is made, bacause it's so thin and precise while still holding the car. And a few more questions:
1-what cardboard did you use?
2-how did you make the curved shapes-for example the sidepods
thanks very much!

thank you all. as for the choice, i'm indian, and like sutil, so perhaps that will explain.
and kosio, saw your built as well...indeed a great effort.
1. for suspension, i used copier sheets only...rolled the paper in the form of cylinder and then pressed it, nothing special :)
2. i used thin cardboard sheets for monocoque, floor, engine, gearbox, nose-cone, rear-wing end-plate (like that of toothpaste carton),and joined few layers together accordingly. for example, 3 for monocoque, 2 for floor, single for the rest. all the bodywork was made out of copier sheets
3. curved shapes can be achieved by pasting two (or more) layers of sheet together and giving the required shape by folding while the glue is still wet. when dried, the shape will be retained. a few more pics

thanks for the tips, they will help with my f138

have you got a picture of the part on the nosecone where it joins to the monocoque?
