Renault engine mappings & off throttle blowing

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

Renault engine mappings & off throttle blowing

Post

I was at Austin with a buddy of mine, and spent all day Friday & Saturday sitting at turn 1. after a few minutes, it became pretty obvious (at least to me) that RBR still has some significant form off throttle blowing going on. I wouldn't cal it blowing in the 2011/2012 sense, it was more like a horribly tuned motor backfiring repeatedly. All the top teams where doing it, but it seemed to last a second or two longer with RBR. Once or twice Vettel was half way through the turn before the car stopped.

How are they still doing this? I thought the mapping changes made mid last year where supposed to put a stop to all of this.

Wolff suggested this about a month ago.
