Nissan DIG-T R Engine

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

Nissan DIG-T R Engine

Post

Came across a fascinating article on racer.com:

http://www.racer.com/nissan-reveals-rev ... le/331112/

Apperently Nissan developed a 3 cilindre 1.5l turbo engine which brings 400hp to the table at a weight of... 40kg.

It will be used in the ZEOD RC prototype.

Just for a visual reference, this is the engine:

Without trying to be racist, it's probably still a bit under-impressing due a japanese holding it.

a very hefty price tag]

... and Kawasaki has unveiled a 310 hp, 1.5 liter supercharged 4 for use in their Jet Ski. Not too shabby for a "production" engine.

Any idea what the engine itself weighs though? I bet it's at least triple what the Nissan weighs...
