Good bye 130R

Post

According to the medias, the 2007 japanese GP will be at the Fuji track. It is not that I don't like this track at all (I only know it from gran turismo 4), but it is not worth the legendary Suzuka track! It's really a pity that after a year without Spa we'll have to live a year (and surely more) without Suzuka! How can the FIA take decisions of such things without asking for the fans!?

Fuji is Toyota's track, while Suzuka is Honda's.

I recall a rumor floating in the wind a few months back. I too think a lot of Suzuka, it's a wonderful track. But it's also 100% Honda. And I think that some politics, including Toyota are involved. So in one way, the Japanese GP will be held at a venue more neutral to the two major Japanese manufacturers involved in F1.

That Fuji track is on Gran Turismo 4, and whoa there is so much run off areas and it was the worst track to play on boo, I want the 130 R
Simon: Nils? You can close in now. Nils?
John McClane: [on the guard's phone] Attention! Attention! Nils is dead! I repeat, Nils is dead, ----head. So's his pal, and those four guys from the East German All-Stars, your boys at the bank? They're gonna be a little late.
Simon: [on the phone] John... in the back of the truck you're driving, there's $13 billon dollars worth in gold bullion. I wonder would a deal be out of the question?
John McClane: [on the phone] Yeah, I got a deal for you. Come out from that rock you're hiding under, and I'll drive this truck up your ass.

The old version of Fuji is great; not the "tilkefied" one.

Maybe BE is planning on staging two Japanese Grand Prix. I've no doubt if there were two the Japanese would still pack the stands!

I fear which European race will get dropped to make way though :(

I have put the game again and ther's nothing to do, this track totally lacks spirit. The road is too large and the whole layout is surronded by HUGES run-offs area made of asphalt, so if you pass the kerb, you're not really penalised.
Definitly don't love it

20 in a season is too much. the drivers would not have it, however I recall they used to race at both in '95, Fuji under 'Pacific GP.'

Then it was a good track, however on TRD1 it is abysmal ---.
I have had more fun in my back garden than on that track.

Suzuka was designed specifically to test the drivers in everyway, and it does. I know the circuit by heart thanks to a 1997 F1 demo which only allowed you to race on that circuit. It is brilliant. Especially the esses, 130R and casino triangle, oh and spoon, and degner 1 and 2, and the hairpin.

Even last curve caused high drama last year when Montoya ripped his wheels off through it.
There is not a dull corner or straight. Its a driver and spectators dream.

I suggest someone mention it on other F1 websites, band together and send a list of names to the FIA demanding they put it back on the calender.

Even if it doesn't work, we loose nothing, and with at least 50 names from each site, the FIA are hard pressed to refuse.

Why not?

If I'm reading correctly between the lines, it means that Toyota had signed the new Concorde agreement.

I read somewhere that for what's Bernie worth it there will be 2 japanese gp's since there are now 3 japanese teams :)

but on the other hand with the amount of england based teams, and theres only one british gp, that wont make sense

Lots of politics and money talking. Bernie has reflected that he would like to see more races in Asia. Read between the lines.. tobacco advertising. He has mentioned dropping the San Marino GP, and the European GP, since in essence we now have two GP's in Germany and Italy. As well, he's been investigated a few times by the EU for possible violations due to a monopoly. He's also facing a hard time by the Indy organizers, he needs them more than they need him. Tony George and his crowd won't hesitate to tell Bernie to shove off if they can't be guaranteed a good show. They already have two huge moneymakers there, the Indy 500 and the NASCAR race.
And Honda had to have given up some kind of favor, because of the help they got in pushing SA so quickly into a real team.
Bernie and his bunch will come out on top, but at what expense to which GP, remains to be seen.

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

I'm totally with you. We should better try something than complaining here. Do you know how to proceed? I don't know about others F1 forums. Still, I think it would'nt be enough at all. I read recently that just for france, there was over 5,2 millions TV spectators for bahrein! Do you really think even 300 people signing a petition would have any weight?

No harm trying.

First, is anyone one else a user on other f1 forums?
don't worry, I'll take the rap from Principessa.

After all, why should four Toyota bussiness men have more power than several hundred F1 fans. We are the ones buying the products that attract the sponsors in the first place.

I'm just sick of sitting moaning about how unfair it is when we could try to stop it.
