F1 2002 Career Challenger

Post

I bought the game and thought it was done really bad, the only thing I liked was you can see the slipstream effect and how to enter the pits using the controls, but in general the game was not that good. GT4 is still my favourite, but I heard Forza and TOCA 3 is good, and Need For Speed 1. Anybody have any comments?
Simon: Nils? You can close in now. Nils?
John McClane: [on the guard's phone] Attention! Attention! Nils is dead! I repeat, Nils is dead, ----head. So's his pal, and those four guys from the East German All-Stars, your boys at the bank? They're gonna be a little late.
Simon: [on the phone] John... in the back of the truck you're driving, there's $13 billon dollars worth in gold bullion. I wonder would a deal be out of the question?
John McClane: [on the phone] Yeah, I got a deal for you. Come out from that rock you're hiding under, and I'll drive this truck up your ass.

Im an avid F1 2002 player for PC. And love the game, especially since you can add the new vehicles/tracks/etc.

Because EA Sports have a kinda of template with all their F1 games for PC. You can browse the net and find tons of add-ons for these types of games.

F1 games dont seem to be coming out anymore. But it would be great if a new season like F1 2006 were to come out.

Although Im sure they are waiting for the PlayStation 3 to be released before creating new F1 games.

I've done a lot of laps on EA's F1 2002. Heck, I even won a few online races in that game. And I've added a lot of tracks. One mod that came out was GTR, and it eventually went retail last year. (refined, but still the same thing). It's a total blast, the driving experience is a lot of fun. The most recent game is GT Legends, of which I'm putting a lot of laps in. I forgot how much fun it was the throw a Mini around the track.
The old classic by Papyrus, NASCAR 2003 has reached cult status, it's very hard to get your hands on one. The amount of mods is great, and the tracks are, well, you name the track, someone has done it. I love taking my Ron Fellows Corvette and hammering around the old Nurburgring.....

I got Toca Race Driver 3 recently, and it is FANTASTIC!!!

And, unlike the previous installments, F1 cars are present (if not numerous).
The (mostly) famous Williams' cars are there (The FW11b, the FW18, and the FW27) alongside a 1930's Mercedes and a 1950's Merc Silver Arrow.

I like F1 '05 on the PS2, I really like GT4 & I'm often found messing about on GP Manager2 (OLD SCHOOL! hehe) & GPWorld.

EA sports did an F1 manager game too, i've got that...its not too bad.

On PC you can't find a better F1 sim....I don't know about the PS2 version but all the PC EA F1 game from F1 2001 to F1 99-02 are some of the best modern F1 game for PC....and then because of the open nature of the developer ISI, they brought up makers like Simbin to make the hugely successful GTR and now GT Legend....

What about Grand Prix 4 and 3?
surely they are best f1 games on PC!!
they rule and in terms of grahpics and drivablity it is far superior.
i personally enjoyed f1 2002 but after GP4 F1 2002 it was just not good enough.

GTR is the best racing game i have ever played, its so good and really hard to drive. GTL is alittle to arcadie for my liking

on a console i am a big fan of PGR2

I'm a huge fan of Geoff Crammond, in fact I have the original GP. And I have thousands of laps on GP3. But somehow I found GP a bit of a disappointment. Yes, superior driveability and graphics, but a very clunky interface and making setups was a lot of trouble for me. I just found F1 2002 a lot easier to make setups and just go racing.
GTR is fantastic, as is it's cousin, GT legends. Turn off the aids, get the realistic settings, and you can go very, very fast. You can also get in trouble just as quickly :)
I would love to see a modern F1 sim out there, because there hasn't been anything serious for the Formula One fan in almost three years.

i want an F1 managment game, i want to develop cars and get drivers, do all that stuff. That would be great :)

In terms of racing, I want a Relistic F1 racer not this arcade rubbish we get from EA every other year.

Arcade? :?

Try F1 Challenge 99-02 (EA GAMES) and there's every season update on the internet... including cars, setups, tracks, drivers...

Very realistic

I would say F1 Challenge is the most realistic F1 sim out there. The 2005 Season Mod makes the cars drivable.

GT4 was ok till I figured out it's just an arcade game disguised as a sim. Im sure it's pretty realistic (in GT3) to set the traction control to 3, and ASM to 0, and not have the car spin out.

you cant have a proper racing game on a console. its not possible. All the game i have ever played on PS2 and Xboxs are not relistic, GTR is Spot on

However the best Racing game ever made was Mario Cart on the SNES

It comes down to the difference between console games and pc games.

If you want a plug in and play, want some action packed racing, and wanna enjoy it till u get bored and put it in the cupboard. Then go by a console racing game.

On the other hand, if you are willing to mess around with the upgrades, probably reinstall it a couple times, change cards, spend hours customizing, and get a relly technical feel for the Formula 1 racing experience. Go buy a copy of F12002 / F1 Career Challenge, hope on the net and enjoy the various expansion packs/ customisations available.

On a console, you cant change the liverys of a car. On PC, after a bit of researching you can.

Thats why I will continue to play it on PC, with my USB PS2 control, until a newer version comes up!
