Does anybody know about Cosworth's budgets? I read somewhere Pat Symonds saying "I dont understand how on earth does cosworth manage to develop engines on such a small budget" I know that they do have a tight budget but this line kinda makes me wonder is it so low?
I think that even though Ford isn't in F1 at the moment they have never said never again to F1 and so I think they keep Cosworth alive with possible financial support just in case.

Cosworth's budget can be big since it's supplying engine to 2 teams instead of 1: STR and Williams
Hi all, newbie here. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but didn't Ford sell Cosworth to Champ Car owners Kevin Kalkoven and Gerald Forsythe? If this is the case, then Cosworth doesn't have the luxury(?) of Ford's financial muscle to back them up any longer.
JB, yeah I think you are right. But I've no doubt they are going all out investing their money in this V8 year. Make or break year, they need Williams and other teams to want to buy it next year.
Well your right about the sale of Cossie from Ford. personally I don't know exactly who it was to though. Although either way its right to say that they dont have the finacial muscle of Ford behind them anymore.
Thats why they've done such an impressive job making the V8 engine
Silence is golden when you don't know a good answer.

Correctamundo, and welcome to the forum. Aside from the F1 engine programme I think they only produce a spec engine for the Champ Car grid. I'm not sure if they pursue any other competition engines outside of F1 though.(?) Just a thought.
Did some research on Cosworth, they supply engines to this series and Caterham car
Champ Car-also the owner of Cosworth is half owner of Champ Car
Formula Atlantic series
Swift Engineering unveiled its Formula Atlantic 016.a, a new feeder-series spec racer commissioned by Champ Car that began track testing in February in preparation for its April debut at Long Beach.
The new Atlantic car is faster, thanks in part to a 2.3-liter, Cosworth-built Mazda piston engine (used in the Ford Focus) that packs a governed 300 hp, about 20 percent up on the outgoing Toyota powerplant
CATERHAM SEVEN CSR 260
the semi-official engine is a 2.3-liter four-cylinder Ford, developed by Cosworth. Yes, you can buy a Cosworth-powered car once again. All is right with the world.
Under WRC, it says the ford focus rally car is a ford engine, but I am wondering if Cosworth does work on it, anybody know?
Simon: Nils? You can close in now. Nils?
John McClane: [on the guard's phone] Attention! Attention! Nils is dead! I repeat, Nils is dead, ----head. So's his pal, and those four guys from the East German All-Stars, your boys at the bank? They're gonna be a little late.
Simon: [on the phone] John... in the back of the truck you're driving, there's $13 billon dollars worth in gold bullion. I wonder would a deal be out of the question?
John McClane: [on the phone] Yeah, I got a deal for you. Come out from that rock you're hiding under, and I'll drive this truck up your ass.

That's it, I forgot they powered Atlantics aswell. I thought Rover 1.8 units were used in the Cateringvan. Maybe they have upgraded.
I know the 2.3's power the mazda protege, mazda tribute and the mazdaspeed 6 here in north american, I think the ford focus as well
