Springs vs pneumatic

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

Springs vs pneumatic

Post

Formula 1 engines use pneumatic valves several years(again a Renault innovation).so the springs valve have been abolished.
Why they haven't abolish yet the coil spring in the suspension?
Isn't there a better solution( maybe again a pneumatic system) for the car handling?

F1 has abolished them for a while now. They use torsion bars as the main springs.

Pneumatic springs are used to avoid resonance issues at high RPM. This isn't a problem in suspension systems.

Additionally, "air springs" typically introduce a lot of hysteric friction which is unwanted, particularly on suspensions with short strokes.

Actually, F1 cars currently use very large pneumatic springs in their suspension systems. They're commonly referred to as "tires".
