On second thoughts it is a toss up between Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia.
Feels more like Gilead to me.

Good call. Although this is actually real life here.
None of it ends well though.

In each case it's doesn't end well for those trying to control a population.

Basically, someone needs to hold the drivers number board on the grid, and as its a job that can be given to anyone, I would rather it be women that are pleasing to look at.

If something has to change, why not have women in the odd number grid slots and men on the even ones
You are creating a problem for yourself here. There is really no need for someone to hold the sign. The driver numbers and driver name abbreviations are regulated to be clearly visible on the car.

I dont think they are there so the fans know who is who. More to help the drivers find their grid slots.

Maybe I'm wrong, but thats how i always saw it.

If we're going for the 'slippery slope' argument, there's no reason to have any superfluous spectacle for additional entertainment in F1 whatsoever…

Women are free to do what they want.....Until it doesn't suit the agenda at which point them being out of work is fine.

Yep that sounds about right.
The irony is delicious. Ugly old men fighting for the rights of pretty women to be as unemployed as the 'less pretty' ones. The real irony is, it was probably their wives who suggested it...
Not at all. It's about whether or not I wish to consume pretty girls with everything else. I do not want subway girls, store girls, F1 girls, boxing girls, air plane girls, etc. I find it cheap. The _girls_ aren't. The idea is.

If you wish to consume girls this way then might I suggest you visit Google or hire some escort girls?

TL;DR: I have _zero_ problem with women wanting to pick any job or occupation they so chose. I just find the whole idea of special girls this way cheap and tacky.

I assume this means we're also losing the podium girls as well then??

How about each team has a pair of mascots who hold the numbers on the grid?
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

@hurril

Again, this is someones opinion being forced on everyone else. Listen or read the statements from the women themselves. They have the best view, they are the ones doing the work.

waaaaaait, careful there... serious cats, dogs, and other pokemons may have their feeling get hurt if their image is used in such a fashion, not even counting the younglings, who may think of venturing into this mascot business and not learn to hunt, bark and do what serious pokemon do to get by in life

And I find the whole idea of men changing something that has been a part of the spectacle of F1 for decades in the name of fighting for women's equality hilarious.
Personally, I find Bratches and Carey's flamboyant facial hair quite ridiculous, but they don't have to change it for me.

But you do have a problem with it. Your last sentence proves it.

Your views and the views of others are clearly far more important that employment to over 1000 women. You then have the brass neck to say 'I have _zero_ problem with women wanting to pick any job of occupation they so chose'.

How dare these women want to do something you don't agree with, just who the hell do they think they are. Don't they realise the opinion of you and your ilk are far more important than their jobs.

p.s. the thread name needs updating, so unsuspecting people don't just stumble in here and fall victims to the warfare going on here
I think adding "warning: #SJW battleground ahead" would do the trick

I would not be opposed to liveried burkas. In fact, have everyone on the starting grid wear one. This would add a fascinating dimension to Brundle's grid walks.

The worst thing about this is that you can't have an honest discussion or voice a contrarian opinion publically lest you get piled on like Hamilton recently.
