Paul Ricard testing

Post

Found this, again Renault runs the narrow nose cone of theirs in testing. But they are not using it in the GP, I'm very curious about Renault. They use the narrower nose cone in testing but not in the race, why?

I asked that question in one of my threads, please try to see what other people have written. But the general answer was data comparsion to the fatter nose cone that they use.
Simon: Nils? You can close in now. Nils?
John McClane: [on the guard's phone] Attention! Attention! Nils is dead! I repeat, Nils is dead, ----head. So's his pal, and those four guys from the East German All-Stars, your boys at the bank? They're gonna be a little late.
Simon: [on the phone] John... in the back of the truck you're driving, there's $13 billon dollars worth in gold bullion. I wonder would a deal be out of the question?
John McClane: [on the phone] Yeah, I got a deal for you. Come out from that rock you're hiding under, and I'll drive this truck up your ass.

Easy there killer, this is my first season watching the technical aspect of the sport.

Matter of fact its only my second season watching it at all.

After doing some searching I see you are right (I am not saying I doubted you). The picture of the R25 I have saved to my laptop is of the car at unvailing. The lower flip up was introduced at monaco last year. My mistake.

I do think the flip-ups located ahead of the rear wheels are larger than previously though. Perhaps it's the camera angle, but they seem wider and extend all the way to the centre of the tyre. Maybe that's why Sodder noticed them!

(ps. I'm primarily referring to the lower flip-up)

I say this not just a nose cone thing, the rear wing surface seems to reduced. Could that used to be cutting drang or something esle?

Toyota is running a double mid-wing, if this is not for getting downforce then is it supposed stablise more airflow before it hits the rear wing?

Perhaps they're testing tires.

Perhaps they're testing engine reliability.

Perhaps they're not testing aerodynamics.

Yeah I agree, you can't possibly test Monaco's aerodynamics at Paul Ricard. Both are completely different circuit with different layout.
