Barca quali 2017 was 3.7s off 2019

2014: 85.232s
2015: 84.681s
2016: 82.000s
2017: 79.149s
2018: 76.173s
2019: 75.406s
Wasn't the track resurfaced though in that period?

It's not really different than what we've seen before is it?

Must be an old one as it still has DRS

Meant the teaser ... rear wing looks shorter, big swan neck ... but apart from that it's really close to every other render we've seen of the 2021 cars

That's really bad. Nothing is right.

These rules are nuts... 138 pages to trawl through... really prescriptive, like the rear coke even is defined

A taster of the detail.
2 Floor Body Planform Reference Surface (RS-FLOOR-PLAN)
RS-FLOOR-PLAN is composed of the following elements:
2.1 On the plane Z=400, a surface enclosed by the following peripheral elements:
a. A line between [XF=650, 0], [XR=350, 0].
b. A line between [XR=350, 0], [XR=350, 350].
c. A line between [XR= -350, 475], [XR= -350, 650].
d. A line between [XF=1290, 800], [XF=2000, 800].
e. A minor arc of constant radius, extending from [XR= -350, 475] to [XR=350, 350] and
tangent to X at [XR=350, 350].
f. A minor arc with a constant radius of 2000mm, extending from [XF=1290, 800] to
[XF=960, 685] with its centre of curvature forward of XF=960.
g. A minor arc with a constant radius of 2000mm, extending from [XF=650, 0] to [XF=960,
685] with its centre of curvature rearward of XF=960.
h. A minor arc of constant radius, extending from [XR= -350, 650] to [XF=2000, 800], and
tangent to X at [XF=2000, 800].
2.2 Once the surface in §2.1 is fully defined, regions of the surface within 10mm of §2.1b to
§2.1h must be discarded. Regions of the surface within 90mm of §2.1d or §2.1h are also
discarded, except for those regions ahead of XF=1700 or rearward of XR= -700.
2.3 On the plane Z=0, a minor arc with a constant radius of 2120mm, extending from [XF=475,
505] to [XF=1550, 800] with its centre of curvature forward of XF=1000.

That's my point, we started complaining they were too slow even though they offered great racing.

The last estimate I saw was that these will be around 5 secs slower, what is the point then?

They always change the regulations just as the competition is at it's strongest, I have a feeling following won't be so easy as they are predicting in the real world. Let's not forget they are running poor tyres.
5 secs slower is 2017 kind of performance! 2014 cars were 10 secs slower than 2019 cars around Barcelona...that was just miserable for me at least! GP2 egnine GP2 cars   #Alonso

Problem with 2017 rules was that they didn't think of overtaking even a bit! The 2019 rules are a bit better in terms of overtaking but i believe tires play as big a role in following each other as aero! Tires in 2014 were hard like concrete because Pirelli didn't know what to expect from the new, higher torque engines!

Racing in 2019 is nice i believe...Silverstone was great in terms of racing and overtaking...Leclerc vs Verstappen was a highlight!
2017 cars were 5 seconds slower? I'm sure that's not the case in qualifying compared to 2019.
Yeah 2017 cars were more like 3.5-4 secs slower...Tombazis just said that 2021 cars will be around 3-3.5 secs slower which truly is 2017 levels of performance...but then Ross Brawn took over and said that the cars will have 2016 levels of performance! So i believe the cars will be somewhere in between 2016 and 2017 performance!

Other than that Tombazis also showed how the cars could be different to each other (sidepods, wings, nose, etc)...so we will not end up in a GP1 kind of state i believe!

All in all the car looks futuristic with some retro aspects! =D>
