The steering rod is moved from lower wishbone to upper wishbone.

It’s Seems not only does Merc have the narrowest nosecone, but the front of the monocoque seems narrower all along its length too

RBs monocoque seems the same width as McLaren around the cockpit but then tapers in towards where the nose connects

Of course it may just be misleading pictures

SF1000 has similarly big brake ducts (probably for blown wheel hub)... Another point of view could be (as is posted in Mercedes therad) that Mercedes has them smaller as they expect to be more time in front :)

The brake ducts of RB16 are 3 times the size of the ones of Alpha Tauri. I doubt that the sister team of RBR will expect to be more in front. :)
