Merc couldn’t release their full pace. It was a tyre-limited race; it was always gonna be close.
It’s a really interesting conundrum isn’t it. It definitely made for a more interesting race doing the tyres that way, but it clearly prevented the Mercedes being able to run as fast as they could do.

Interestingly I wonder what would have happened if it was Hamilton leading into T1. Usually he pulls away from Bottas.
It's up to them make the car work the tires. Others could

Absolutely, there’s no way to run & hide when you have to manage your tyres so much. It was fascinating.

It seems like a good way to level the playing field, upping the pressures.

Can you believe people say the mercedes is the dominant car?! Hah. Jokers.

This is why Toto does not count his chickens before they hatch.
Atleast this race should stop people from crying here everyday about how no one can touch Merc
Oh please, stop pretending. What happened today was because of high temperatures. RedBull was still 1 sec away yesterday.

And Albon finally makes a good race!

You mean finishing 5th on the same car which WON today's race?
Wow the standards are pretty low for him i see
Midfield pack is very tight, he needed to fight it through which he did clean and quite well, so yes good race.

Red Bull was the dominant car today in this heat well done, ironically they helped Lewis in the championship because he would've finished 2nd to Bottas and without the fastest lap so a big points swing there.
That sounds like been written by a sore Hamilton fan loser =D>
RB had the better strategy, superb first stint from Max and strategy made them win. And for sure Mercedes was the dominant car but less due the heat.
I am extremely happy so lets not go there with childish comments and ruin the thread . Red Bull had the fastest car today in this heat and credit to them =D>

They only can with Hot weather unfortunately otherwise the Dominant car is too dominant even Hamilton thinks that seeing his talk about tyre pressure aka cheating. Noone can beat a Mercedes unless cheating =P~
Lewis never said they were cheating during the race, it was the stupid commentators who interpreted that.
All he meant was they are running lower pressure THAN mercedes themselves...and indicating they should also do that. (the pirelli only sets a minimum pressure number not the maximum)

Verstappen P1 read it and weep haters.
It seems the moderators are going to allow garbage like this to stand so I'll remember this for the future!
It was a nice friendly thread up till then, wasn't it?
More like Hamilton fans didn't have anything to b*itch about until that point. Now they do, and they love it, else they would have ignored that message from godlameroso.

It seems like a good way to level the playing field, upping the pressures.
But it smacks of "build the best car you can, but if you do it too well we'll find a way to artificially trip you up".
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

I wonder if the race had been different if they had done that Q2 second lap on hard tires (like Max). Redbull might still have edged them, but would have been a lot closer IMHO.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

He started from 9th. So, better then he has been doing this year. He had to fight thru the pack. Always different from racing from 3rd.

From those on the pack he blatantly looses to Leclerc that with a worse car made a better race. All others were not as good as Albon
And whose fault was it that he started from 9th?? :?
I didn't comment on the poor qualifying
And that has nothing to do with what he accomplished during the race. Should he be closer to Max and the Nerds with that car? Sure! But from where he started was, in my opinion, a good race! With great moves!

What a sore loser Hamilton is, complaining on the radio that Verstappen must have lower tyre pressure. That's accusing you competitors of cheating.
Absolutely! He does himself no favours with that attitude.

Absolutely. It’s a bit artificial I think, but definitely breathed some life into the season! Now it’s interesting. Pirelli could have a big say in what happens in the rest of the season with their tyre choices. They could definitely neuter the Mercedes cars if they choose to but it would be somewhat changing the goalposts halfway through the season.
