Post

This is interesting. A reason to go to Las Vegas next year?

Will be a night race on Saturday night local time, i.e. early Sunday morning in Europe.
Didn't see a track layout yet, afraid of lots of 90 degrees turns...

Edit: found one now, looks interesting with lots of straights

Looking at the layout, boring street circuit. Another DRS stand-off place.

Absolutely!

It will surely be challenging, cold tires, eating up one tire if they stick to this layout....but I love these new city tracks.

Absolutely. If I go to a F1 race, then mostly street circuits. Just a different level of fun.

On a classical racetrack you are so far away....in 50% it rains some time during the event, you have issues reaching the track and you have issues to watch the frame program. Better to watch on TV.

Completely different game in the cities like Montreal, Baku or Spore...maybe we can even count Yas Marina (excluding unreachable Saudi). Except for Monaco the city is running "normal". You have your local transport that brings you easily from the airport, hotel rates are ok, you can do sightseeing, you can walk around the track and see every corner, watch FP and frame races from different spots. Furthermore the frame program is much better....and afterward you just take local transport back to the hotel at night.

Ok...Vegas has no local transport (maybe monorail helps...) and parking will be $hitty as in Spa just without mud, but if you book at the right time, I see no issue with hotel rates. Furthermore you can take it easy, do some days more in California and avoid expensive flights, maybe even sleep in Vegas for only two nights...I would fly to LA for example and go by car to Vegas, Hoover Dam, Death Valley etc. if this is new.

There are many tips and tricks about Vegas, let us discuss when people start booking...maybe see you in Vegas ;)

I just hope they won't resurface the strip just because of racing. It should be as is. Bumpy if so, it shouldn't be easy. Drivers and teams need to work for it.

I was thinking the same, did some google streetview and the cracks in the road will be like canyons to an F1 car.

It doesn't look like the pit straight is long enough, i'm guessing they might integrate the pit entry before turn 14 and pit exit after turn 1. Any guess on how long the pit straight could be?

Can't wait to see the cars conquer three straights and two parking lots.

Wow what an exciting layout

Anyway, at least the main boulevard has lots of nice buildings! It may look epic at midnight...

Question: Does the Pit have to be at Start/Finish on a circuit? I know all of them are, but is it written in the rules?

I don't know how it would work if it wasn't

I'm still waiting to see them build circuits with really low pit deltas to open up more interesting strategies.

I guess you want the pits close to the starting line for access to the cars before a race.

I don't know whats worse? Another American race or another street circuit. Surely neither is needed.
