Alpine A523

Now I'm 52% sure Alpine extended the wheelbase / the front axle (to the maximum permitted 3600mm?) and 51% sure they pushed the cockpit backwards a little bit too...

This width of the nose is curious. It may have something to do with directing more flow from under the nose towards the floor, since this is where from most of the cars direct the air to the floor.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

And also producing some local DF?

And what do you think about those notches they added on the nose edges / or the extrusions they made there? around front axle)

Could be some downforce, depends on what's going on under the nose. Regarding the notches I'm not sure, I didn't have a good look at them

Does anyone noticed how much porpoising Alpine had?

They were testing a very stiff suspension setup for later races on the calendar. Exaggerated bouncing. It is not an ideal setup for bahrain but testing is testing for the season, not for use like a Bahrain free practices session

:P
(but the underside of the nose and tub looks quite conventional to me with a square/rectangular section...)

Ah, right, those :D

Hard to tell to be honest, might have something to do with behavior in yaw and interaction of the first notch and front suspension. Looks to me like the first notch is a kind of barrier (?) that encourages only a certain amount of flow to go down to the side, where the pushrod and front arm are. I think I see a slightly bigger radius on the tub and nose just before the notch, that's also making the flow go down.

Later the radius increases again after second notches, suggesting they want to let it slide down to the sides again, to feed the inlet I imagine. Interesting stuff, not sure it's anything huge, but a nice detail to add and improve the airflow in your own way.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

It look like the front brake caliper remained at 3 o'clock (in left side view), contrary to AM who moved it to 6 o'clock like all teams for a lower CoG
But Alpine has very neat & compact braking systems since 2022

Compressor intake has a different shape (blue) and bigger?
2023 Air filter looks larger (white)
Intercooler not visible (2022 = purple)
The sidepod radiator duct do not seem to descend to the floor... raised sidepod cooling system like RB?

I see the same with their sidepod cooling setup. Maybe it's hard to confirm from this angle but in that regard it looks to be very aggressively raised from the floor. Will we see some floating pontoons like RB? Would not be surprised

The removal of the front floor edge gurney might be a clue that the sidepod undercut style will soon change
