Alpine A523

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

This is a camera right? Otherwise i don't think it would be legal.

Alpine seems to need to run more cooling louvers than Aston Martin.
It does seem they have to open up their bodywork much more than other teams. Is it really the engine?

This could be a function of how much air they want to exit the back center "cannon" which might affect the low pressure under the rear wing main plane. Maybe they want the hot air to exit further forward.

Beginning to think someone at Alpine with a Dremel has a little too much time on their hands

This reeks of desperation. I'm not impressed at all, Alpine.

This kind of waffling is usually reserved for the windtunnel. It's rare to see them basically doing full scale model changes ...

Very creative! Is it really an all-new floor, it looks like an old floor that has been modified with the old cut-outs filled in? :?:

Alpine's beam wing is comically large

Did Alpine recently join the club of the stepped boat tails that Red Bull founded in 2022? Or am I seeing things? (in Spa or here)
*(The drawing and step/cutout position are not precise. In other words they are off. The step should be more rearwards, near the metallic part/the end of the 'wood' skid)

Given multiple photos at Zandvoort show this feature, the geometry from rear view has absolutely changed. To me it seems like the keel has a step yes. The way it's not illuminated by side-on light at a defined line precludes it from smoothly transitioning so it must be stepped imo

Some dodgy screenshots from nextgen auto confirming not just a certain angle of light causing a trick

Yes.
The tunnels roof and kicks seem different too
