Hey fellas!

2023 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Formula 1, and with so many drivers, teams and cars in the mix, we can't help but wonder who will come out on top. Who will be/do the:
  • World Drivers Champion:
  • World Constructors Champion:
  • Rookie of the Year:
  • Flop of the Year:
  • Surprise of the Year:
  • Overtaker of the Year:
  • Start Master:
  • Most Pole Positions:
  • Under-deliver:
  • Over-deliver:

Lets hear all your predictions - so get your predictions in and let's see who's got it right?

Here goes mine:
  • World Drivers Champion: Max Verstappen
  • World Constructors Champion: Red Bull Racing
  • Rookie of the Year: Oscar Piastri
  • Flop of the Year: Mercedes. For failing to adopt to new rules and falling back to 4th
  • Surprise of the Year: Hulkenberg gets a podium.
  • Overtaker of the Year: Fernando Alonso
  • Start Master: Lewis Hamilton
  • Most Pole Positions: Max Verstappen
  • Under-deliver: New Aero Regulations. They will spread the field even more.
  • Over-deliver: Fernando Alonso

Ok, it's different enough from the pecking order prediction to also fill this out - with equally unlikely predictions, just because I hope things will be stirred up a bit:

  • World Drivers Champion:
Alonso, even though I think he could have made some room for a younger driver by now, if AR nails it, it is Alonso that has to bring in the bacon.
  • World Constructors Champion:
Ferrari, because Stroll will bone AMs score, and while Max will outperform the Ferrari drivers, their combined consistency will place the team above RB.
  • Rookie of the Year:
Nyck! Ok, those are orange glasses, I think he will do a good job but in a bad car. So then I guess Piastri is in the best position.
  • Flop of the Year:
Either: Alpine having a good philosophy but bad execution, ending 4th (while AM wins on a similar concept) or MB massively flopping and ending 7th.
  • Surprise of the Year:
Max not winning the championship? Or maybe: Wolff not trying to get any rules changed in favor of MB? (ok, just joking a bit - let's not start a war ;)). I guess if my predictions come true there are very few things that would not constitute a big surprise anyway, except perhaps for AT finishing at the rear end.
  • Overtaker of the Year:
K-Mag.
  • Start Master:
Alonso masters this still.
  • Most Pole Positions:
Charles, they'll maintain fast in quali, lesser in race.
  • Under-deliver:
George Russell.
  • Over-deliver:
Hulkenberg.

He doesn't qualify as a rookie anymore?! Well, in that case I'll go for De Vries. I expect he'll end Yuki's career.

With these first two predictions I think the real Flop of the Year would be Red Bull if they are overtaken by both Ferrari and Mercedes in performance.

Not easy to be the Start Master if you start most races from Pole Position.

I don't think. They got less wind tunnel time, Perez will be a weakness if Merc are closer, and Sainz will not be as bad as last year + Verstappen and the pitwall will carry them to good results

... If he keeps 1st place on each starts, why not

I think the reduced wind tunnel and CFD time will affect their '24 car more than '23.
