Isn't that amount of flow viz a godsend to rivals? If one was conspiratorially minded, one could say this was part of FIA punishment from the overspend 8)

I was actually talking about the small side undercut on RB18, that way RB was controlling exactly which portion of the air is going into diffuser. They've made the undercut bigger on RB19 and that also has a lot to do with floor edge treatment, there is clearly big and important interaction there.

Teams that had a big undercut on launch spec cars all had trouble and that has a lot to do with guiding the air towards diffuser mouse hole. The clean air close to the tub ended up around the beam wings on those cars, while RB18 led it to diffuser, where it helped their floor design more. Who knows what kind of turbulence ended up in early Sauber and AMR diffusers...

Right now, RB19 reduced their outwash a bit, but they still have a good amount of clean air between front tyre wake and diffuser mouse hole, so they have that covered. They chose a specific floor edge treatment, made the sidepods even more streamlined in one area and reduced drag obviously. Not a bad evolution of a successful concept. :)
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

I wonder why they don't use UV paint, so it wouldn't be visible to everyone.

Symonds suggested on the feed that RB had managed to carry over a lot of components, but seemed to have changed a couple of things potentially for better traction (which would make sense given Ferrari's advantage there last season)

Can see the clear role of the halo winglet that RB use. Steers high energy air outboard and separates it from cockpit losses which flow over the top of the shoulders

Every single square milimeter of the car shows extreme levels of refinement. No wasted carbon. Even the bottom edge of the rear wing endplate seem deformed by the shape of the air flow passing them. The floor edge flicks are another complex item. I can't quite work out what they do... They seem to be make two small vortices that spin towards the floor protecting the outwash near the venturi throat.

Kyle suggests that they are using them as small wings that are a more efficient/less lossy way than gurney flaps to extract airflow from the forward floor which of course increases floor performance.

B sport suggests in his analysis that they might be as you suggest using them to create small vortices, but rather than protecting outwash he suggests they are helping to condition sensitive (from his experience working with heavily undercut sidepods at Force India) flow through the very fast flowing undercut channel of the sidepods

The mousehole is the small cut-out in the side of the diffuser, similar looking to a mousehole, that feeds air into the diffuser

You can see it just by the rear tyres in this picture

The mouse hole is a cutout in the diffuser sidewall that allows teams to feed high energy air into the diffuser to aid extraction and improve diffuser performance

Thx, was thinking right way 😊
Was this a standard feature of 22 regulations from the begining and what would be it's initial purpose? Or was it meant from beginig to be blown some way, by passive or as evident more active eay?
