I’d have to imagine they went all in power wise for Carlos on a straight for data collection.
A solid tow?
That, or everyone has their PU’s turned down that much. You figure each PU has to survive 4500-5000 km. Also no sense in cranking them up for Pirelli’s tire test.

The only time I’ve seen a big discrepancy like that in my experience is when someone blows their braking point.

Perez with his usual few km/h advantage over max. Anyone know if the Sainz speed is a huge outlier even within his own data?

341 km/h feels like spa/Baku top speeds
Aston's pace seems unusually slow.
I think it’s still hard to say. You figure 3 PU’s for 20 races, and so they baby them as much as they have to. Might see them turn up a little in FP2 for qualy sims.
Right but there are 3 other Mercedes powered teams including the factory team who are managing the same concerns with the same PU.

My thinking on this is that since Max prefers a bit more front wing for the balance, that his car is ever so slightly draggier.

Piastri and Hamilton were 1kmh (.6mph) faster, Norris and Russell were 5 kmh faster. Looks like everyone but Norris and Russell are running about the same settings, and those two are running the same.

If this is official speed trap data that’s one thing but if this is the crowd source GPS data, I think 1kmh is within measurement error.

Let’s revisit this after qualifying to see how they compare.

Alonso on FP1
And Aston Martin? Local hero Alonso was celebrated by the fans on Thursday evening. After 6th place in the first practice session, the mood was moderately euphoric. According to team boss Mike Krack, however, the result is nothing to worry about. He says: "For us, it wasn't a training session, it was a test. We tried a lot, including with the tyre prototypes. It all went smoothly."

You can see right away that they've shifted the balance forward on Max's car. Car turns much better. He's still asking for more front wing clicks just now...

Good to see that Alpine is running Hards. That should give a decent indication about how many stops there really are to expect on Sunday. Marko said 2-3, but I wouldn't be too sure yet.

Sam Collins mentioned that Alpine was on 20kg of fuel, RBR on 35kg as did Mercs, Ferrari was on 45kg of fuel in their laps in FP2.

Car was sliding and oversteering, those tires were out of their window.

I think he was just speculating and throwing numbers out there. There is no way Sam knows.

He's using a low load rear wing, isn't he? A useful test of the car's aero but not helpful at this track. As they're showing.
