Antonelli has done more than 9000km of testing so far. https://www.f1oversteer.com/news/toto-w ... des-tests/

I guess TPC-testing is not included into the cap, otherwise I don't think Mercedes could afford the resulting costs of 9000km of running?

It's all included, TPC costs are quite small as far as I saw. The car is already made and operational. Only extra fuel, fluids, tyres and renting out the track for a how ever long they need it. Personel costs are already covered, transport costs are small. Most of the things listed are covered by sponsorships

Ok, thank you. In terms of money it's for sure not a big deal for Merc, but budget cap-wise I'd say 9000 km of driving is some 100k's?

Even if it's close to 1m it will pay off. Bearman had a lot of FP1s and 3 full races. Doohan had a race and FP1s, Hadjar had some FP1s too. Only Bortoleto is without experience

Does it not count as legacy and not come under the cap?

Sorry guys, TCP is outside budget cap.
There are interesting interviews from last year, regarding the Toyota deal from Haas on this topic. One of the main things is to extract the benefit of TCP with Toyota Gazoo Racing. Haas will be able with this deal to shift parts of the crew to TCP, mainly handled by TGR. That brings them out of budget cap for this time and, thus, gives free training, slight reduction on travel cost, etc...

A bigger and better brand than both Puma and Tommy combined, generating around $30 million per year. A win-win for the team.

I believe they were in talks with Mastercard who pulled out and signed with McLaren instead shortly after the Austrian GP.

That picture was ironically taken from the paddock at the Red Bull Ring.
