2025 car comparison thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

McLaren, Mercedes and Ferrari very similar on frontal surface area, Red Bull without the scoop in the middle. Their wing looked bigger to me yesterday, when viewed alone in isolation

It's interesting that Merc continues to use a much bigger radius where the mainplane meets the endplates. I wonder what the thinking is there?

McLaren’s compact pull-rod setup aids aero but limits adjustability, Ferrari balances aero precision with easier tuning; Red Bull’s aggressive geometry optimizes grip but risks sensitivity

Do you have any idea why red bull have gone in a different direction in terms of their RW ideas relative to the other 3 'top' teams given the relative similarity in upstream ideology?

Well this is Red Bull's rear wing philosophy since 2022, I wouldn't expect them to give it up just like that. They know and understand it and I guess they know how best to optimise it and combine it with different beam wing shapes
