Hi guys, just a few questions to fulfill my curiosity about f1 engines!
I cant find concrete figures and im sure most teams dont provide any clue on their engines apart from a rough grey release of max rpm and power.
What i aim to do is to try and develop an F1 engine curve for a simulator.
When answering please say what team or who quoted the figure.
1)
a) How much peak torque does the 2.4L V8 produce?
b) at what revs?
2)
a) How much peak bhp does the 2.4L V8 produce ? (my guess is in between 740 - 775)
b) At what revs? (if so, relative to the limit)

With the 2006 introduction of the 2.4 litre V8 rule, this engine was built from scratch, with its development then phased into three steps over the season. The aim was to start with a solid foundation and then gradually raise the revs. Specific figures for peak power and revs were not revealed, but the P86 was certainly very capable of high rpm. By the end of the year was generally considered the third most powerful engine, just behind Renault and Ferrari. The 20,000 rpm barrier was certainly broken, the optimum probably closer to 21,000.
I already have that info, and no it doesnt explain it all.
This is what I've collected about a week ago till i realised the internet doesnt have any more information for me or i can't search better enough.

BMW P86 engine real life close to 21k absolute max. FIA said it was 3rd most powerful not far behind Renault and Ferrari.
Mclaren MP4-20 rumoured to have 920-950bhp. Whitmarsh of Mclaren quoted "about 150hp less"
Williams BMW V10 engines around 920hp-980hp (2003-2005)
Some Engines in 2005 were close to 1000bhp (honda)
Toyota engine had 740bhp from numerous sources and was considered weak.
Cosworth 1st engine to RACE with 20000rpm in Brazil. (also consider Brazil was last race, and cosworth prepared a 1 off engine, not an engine to last for 2 races) News article on SpeedTV

That was the initial intention together with engine homologation yes, however, both have been moved forward to 2007.

Just a little thing everyone might not know.
European horsepower (ch) and british horsepower (hp) are slightly different.
For the same power, the value in hp is 1-2% higher than the value in ch.
