As we all know there is constant aerodynamic development during the season, but does anyone know exactly how much 'mechanical' development goes on? Are the teams basically locked into their layout 'under the skin' so to speak during the life cycle of a chassis design? Obviously they could make small changes, such as maybe a tougher bearing, or a slight heavier bolt, but are they really making any performance strides during the season?
"I'll bring us through this. As always. I'll carry you - kicking and screaming - and in the end you'll thank me. "
You bet, the car is under a continous development in every area. If you read this, http://press.fiacommunications.com/wmsc ... -2007a.pdf (p13), it mentions engineering changes are made to the car on an average of one every 20 minutes. It could be a major revision, or just shortening one bolt a millimeter.
